Banh mi is a cultural institution in Calgary. I got so hooked on it when I lived there.

The sandwichs I think stack up or things like brisket or pastrami from places like Katz Deli

Katz' is one of my favourite places in New York. The jewish grub in New York in general was my favourite feature. Hot Bialys in Queens was also awesome. Altogether I have to give the pastrami war to New York, but the bagel war to Montreal.

We have a lot of Asian cuisine down here I'm just not big on Banh Mis. My wife lives them.

For Vietnamese I like Pho, got a bunch of good spots for that around here.

And those Dim Sum soup dumplings are awesome

Are cheesesteaks overrated? I feel like they're probably overrated.

They're delicious when made properly. And it's adorable how an entire city is so proud of "inventing" meat and cheese on bread.

As to what's on them it's usually some spicy grilled protein with a with pickled mix of like carrots and Asian radish with cucumber and jalapenos and sprayed with lime.
