Officer passed away :( suspect currently "contained" in his vehicle in a standoff with swat down near Indiana

When there's breaking news of an active shooter in a hotel though, this could have been a lot worse

Just because a doctor takes a job at a gas station doesn’t take away the fact that he’s still a doctor.

Working in academia sucks. High expectations, lots of pretentious people, low income. I don’t want to deal with that shit. I don’t need the ego stroking. I know what I bring to the table and have a couple awards to indicate such. Don’t need to work for peanuts at Harvard or Stanford to be an expert.
Please point me in the direction of this gas station that pays more than professors at Harvard, or Stanford make. Thanks in advance!

After much deliberation, I've decided that I prefer inactive shooters.

Longer commute.
Doubt I would learn a lot.
Never considered the fact that my current coworkers could move on. That would definitely affect my decision, but I could cross that bridge when I come to it.
There is potential for progression.
Going back would be an option. I assume they would fill my position right away, but there are always openings.

Sounds like I should give it a go. Worst case scenario is I don’t like the work or environment and have to spend a couple years there before changing back.

Well, based on the info you gave us, it does sound that way because you probably don't have a lot to lose.

It's something I told my wife. She is underpaid at her current job but is also currently pregnant, so basically she can and must plan her next move well I'm advance. She has a great boss and boss's boss, but if those would change, the freedoms she is given and that she enjoys in her job might vanish, eliminating the factors that allowed her to put up with being overqualified and not being rewarded for outstanding performance monetarily.

do you own the gas station?

My comment was that it's silly to declare yourself at the top of your field if you're doing a low profile, lazy job.
That does sound a little silly. What I meant was I’ve consistently been at the top on knowledge based tests. Definitely better at what I do than most.

"The guy that insists on bringing his dog"

*White Liar Gun Buyer is definitely me.

Show up with a new Glock at the house to clean using my dad's cleaning supplies:
"Um, how much was that?" -Dad
"Oh I, I got it used for like $250 (really spent like the full $650 at the store)" -Me
Dad's reaction:

Drop another $20 and get yourself some CLP, patches, and a boresnake.

And yeah, $250 is way too low to be believable. $350 would be a better lie.

LOL, my dad is super old school with guns. Like, most modern thing he owns is a pump Mossy 500. Everything else is like a Model 12 pump, Model 70 bolt guns, or lever action.

He doesn't even own a double action revolver... only single action Rugers.

That could have been sent to the DUMP Mr. Fascisms, U bottom bunk milky licker.

Delete this one too.

Why stop there?
