Its assuming actual or realistic voter participation. By your example, if no one but 11 people voted in the big states, Joe biden could be elected by 11 (Biden) : 74,000,000 (Trump)

No joke, that just happened today.

I did read it wrong though. I thought the purpose of the exercise was to show the most absurd election result you could get between the two votes but they were being more realistic to make a decent point about how distant the two methods are getting too. I actually have a thread idea about gerrymandering I keep wanting to get to about what the best method really is because my initial agreement with one of the formulas doesn’t seem right anymore.

@AgonyandIrony and @tonni I am very familiar with childhood psychological abuse (and the other common kinds kids experience for that matter, unfortunately) and few things could infuriate me more than the suggestion it doesn't exist and that this girl is just a normal teenager who needs to suck it up. If you're psychologically abused from a young age, turning 16 doesn't suddenly give you the tools to handle it like it's no big deal. That's such a disgusting suggestion I can't go into further detail because ban. I put him on ignore for a reason, brothers, and I suggest you do the same.

Nah. A lot of center-left people (myself included) hope that they'll give in and join a bigger coalition. To this day I maintain that Bolsonaro wouldn't be a thing had they done that in 2018.

But I don't think they'll do it. The party seems hell bent on being some sort of leftwing hegemony, even if that means losing. Unless Lula himself instructs the party to rally behind an outsider, they'll run a purebred candidate. And lose. The whole party needs to restructure its platform to be honest.

If Bolsonaro loses in 2022, my guess is it'll be to someone from the right (just not far right), like the current governor of São Paulo.

I don't know who/what you're referring to, but I don't have much sympathy for the "how dare you cheer on the destruction of a family" crowd. It's sad, sure, but my sympathy goes one way and one way only: to the daughter. We know the mother is a bona fide piece of shit. We know she has put her interests ahead of those of her family. And, for all of history pre-2000, it would be required of the daughter to suffer in silence while her megalomaniac mother makes her life hell. Instead, because of the social media age, she's able to put her on blast. Good on Claudia. Maybe it's shameful to some to put your mother on blast, but it also takes a hell of a lot of courage.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "left wing hegemony" and "purebred candidate"? It doesn't seem to me like PT is all that radical or ideologically pure...at all. What rightward policy moves or ideological compromises do voters want them to make?

I was under the impression that they're a pretty standard pink tide social democratic party....but with centrist vulnerabilities in terms of their willingness to get in bed with business.

George isn't a saint either, being a member of the Federalist Society (if I have been informed correctly), so I'm not a fan, despite my appreciation of the effectiveness of the Lincoln Project's attacks on Trump prior to the 2020 election. But Kellyanne is a horrid person on another level.

I have no comment on the girl's taking it all public, but if her purpose was to shame her mother, it's pretty clear that is a sisyphean task when that woman has none, so it just makes the situation all the more sad to me. Hopefully that kid will get the help she needs to avoid the worst outcomes this sort of upbringing can have.
