I sometimes wonder whether there's a way to do jiu jitsu without being in constant pain. I have no idea how, or why, but I have the worst lats DOMS that I've ever had in my life. From playing half guard on wednesday. Go fucking figure.

How many jiu jitsu schools are in Finland?

Loads. There's at least a dozen in the capital area alone. The gym with the highest profile fighter (in terms of medal wins at the big tournaments) is in Tampere. Things are starting to pop off in the nordics. There's good gyms in all of the Nordic countries these days and serious fighters are starting to sprout out of the ground all over the place in unconventional jiu jitsu countries. For example Langaker and Mathiesen in Norway or Adam Wardzinski in Poland.

One of my friends is a Swedish girl who lives here in San Diego. She is a black belt that competes all the time. She has told me that every time she goes home the Swedish jiu jitsu scene get more and more developed now.

When I was young I read part of the Kalevala the only thing I remember is the water dwarf o that is my little bit of Finnish trivia I throw out every time I meet a Finnish person. So I brought it up to these Finnish jiu jitsu people. They thought I was crazy. I don't think they teach it in schools anymore.

I think Jiu Jitsu will see another boom of talent, this time from Europe. U.S.A. is now enjoying the fruits of the first generation of American jiu jitsu athletes who grew up doing BJJ, Musumeci, the Ruotolos, the Ryans etc. A similar thing will happen with Europe.

I'm learning Finnish right now, and I haven't read it yet. The book that everyone keeps telling me to read is ''Seven Brothers.'' Maybe get a translation of that and you'll have more luck.

That's true. Darkness makes us feel uncomfortable. We'd all like to just ignore it, and forget it exists within us. Imagine ourselves as beings without a shadow.

Why do you think it is that the spectre of failure brings about suicidal ideations in you?

To be honest, this is the only annoying thing you're doing right now.
I am the spectre of suicide. There's a reason why people close the curtains when the sun goes down.

Why wouldn't the spectre or failure not bring those thoughts? I was thrown through tables as a child, I wasn't allowed to even sleep in a bed for a year.

I ain't complaining, I've made thousands of people happy as a chef or comedian or what the fuck ever stupid fucking thing I did, but I helped people.

I'm sorry for saying sorry.

Isnt it beautiful?

It doesn't normally. Among people who do chose to end their lives, some sort of failure perhaps brought that about; but people who fail don't automatically take a header off a bridge knowmsayin?

So why do you think that failure brings about those thoughts for you?

I'm sorry for saying sorry.

That's the most Canadian thing you've ever said to me. I'm verklempt.
