Why aren't they going after the mayor and sheriff instead?

They're stopping the eviction from taking place at all. Reminds me of the London eviction riots from 1960. They're chasing the police out of the neighborhood.

I believe there is heavy pressure on the mayor to stop evictions completely. I know we are here, they evicted a woman with a mentally disabled son who had corona and couldn't work. Vice did a piece on New Orleans evictions that was heartbreaking.

@AgonyandIrony I meant the judge (s) in that county instead of sheriff.
That makes sense. I was a touch confused. I'm not quite sure but I'm sure there is hardcore pressure on the judges being Portland and all.

I think it’s probably been done before but in Star Wars, why wouldn’t the Jedi just not turn on their saber until they are in range for it to open and pierce a person? I get they are also blocking for it but if you timed a swing right, you could turn it off and back on and win.

These are the burnt out thoughts I have left after work.

@AgonyandIrony From r/Portland:

So some context here.
The family owned the house outright, but later took a second mortgage out that they failed to pay, causing for a foreclosure in 2018
The judge that ordered this is Judith Mattarazarro, who is most known for her whistle blowing to attempt to stop mandatory minimum abuse by prosecutors, and belief in treatment instead of punishment of people convicted of DUI

So this is not some Trump-appointee helping big business. This is a solid local judge who we have no reason to believe was acting inappropriately.
Third their claims of legal standing are tenuous to just outright fabrications. They are acting as their own lawyers, and I'm not sure there are actual legal proceedings actually occurring, just them claiming that. Their petition to the Supreme court is prepared by them, and I don't see anything online indicating this is an active case. They've posted online that the court received it, but that doesn't really mean anything.
Finally, at least some of the group appears to be conspiracy theory touting sovereign citizens. One of the leaders (William Nietzche) has posted on his social media this week that Barack Obama was secretly arrested for espionage, that sovereign citizens are immune to coronavirus, and other Qanon type content (elite sex trafficking rings, deep state, etc.).
So before anyone runs out to protest, understand who you're protesting for here.
Thanks for finding some more info. Interesting stuff. I type like a grandma on this tablet so it's taking me a minute to dig deeper.

r/publicfreakout had something about how the family had lived there for generations. Evictions as a whole right now seem like a horrible idea to me.

Hey @Limbo Pete you know anything about this?

Evicting people during a global pandemic and massive recession. Slimy.

What are they being evicted for?

I know out here the moratorium is on eviction for non-payment but you can still be evicted if you constantly violate codes or threaten your landlord to the point of a restraining order and stuff like that.
