Nice. I’ve got little foam mats but that’s more for setting the 85# dumbbells after bench or rows and not destroying floor of apartment

You can make a pretty badass deadlift platform out of some horse stall mats and plywood. There are some instructionals on Youtube.

Try to get plates locally from places like OfferUp, Craigslist, etc. I've been able to get under $2 per pound, just have to be patient.

Regarding the split rack you posted, I bought one and used it for about two weeks before I bought a half rack. The uprights weren't big enough imo and walking the squat forward i just wanted to place the bar against the uprights and then drop down to rack, but I was needing to "place" the barbell in the rack which is more error prone.

I know it’s not truly physically addicted, but I’ve got a friend who’s certainly addicted to weed. It’s fucking badly with his mental health because he wants to stop smoking every day to see if it’ll help other aspects of his mental health (he’s not in a good place) but can’t make it through even one day
Oh its totally mentally addicting and can cause people to form dependencies on it
Every time I take a break from smoking I get irritable, have issues sleeping, and it impacts my apatite

I feel for your bud, this stuff is more readily available than ever before which makes it even harder to quit

Look at it....

ayo!

Oh absolutely. I got a Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 40, a walrus audio Fathom, a TC electronic ditto looper, and a boss ge-7 eq pedal. I'm having a lot of fun figuring this rig out. The amp fucking rips, there's an endless number of tones in this thing.

Unfortunately I have to swap out the bridge pickup in my guitar. That's kind of a bummer because it's an awesome pickup, but it just can't handle the gain of the lead channel on the amp. So the next purchase is going to be a noiseless tele bridge pickup and an OD pedal. Or maybe 3 OD pedals. You can never have enough OD pedals.
Excellent, I love those HKs. I've got the Tubemeister 18, I used it when I played out in a side project band I play lead guitar in. I went through a standard Marshall 4X12 and it was plenty powerful. At any rate it's more then enough for recording and the direct out is superb so I get at least a direct signal and mic'd signal when laying down tracks.

Coincidentally I'm getting ready to head off to band practice so gotta go but we'll need to talk more about this kind of thing.

@Lead @Jack V Savage

Might have to tune into this Rogan episdoe.

Ayee, there we go. I think he’ll actually get some flack for this. I’ve seen people even joke in his blog he’s shifting his views more to pick up some more of the conservative crowd and “soon enough, you’ll be making rounds on JRE” or something along those lines.

Edit- also, it’s going to be three hours of Joe saying Vox was intolerant to him and kicked him out with Matt saying nah and adding more nuance to why... then Joe going back to that.

Ugh. $2 a pound is still so spendy. $150 for each pair of 45s? And I’ll need 3. Could get by with 2
To start I think going real easy on deadlift like I would probably be smart to do. I haven’t lifted more than dumbbells since Covid began in March :(

and thanks for the feedback about pressing against uprights and then setting. That’s what I do to. Having to carefully set straight down would be hard and a safety risk for me. Pay little more for a half rack then

cannot believe the damn plates are so much more than the rack tho

I've known people with similar struggles but I tend to think that's the case where addiction with just about anything could hit that person. Pot just happens to be their means of coping.

There was study done during/after Vietnam War around heroin addiction. It was something like 25% of US soldiers in Vietnam used heroin while overseas, when they came back to the US 10% continued having a problem. Of that group that went to rehab 2-5% to have a problem.

It was interesting because it was trying to understand what caused drug addiction. And it showed there was the external environment influence (being in Vietnam), physical addiction (post Vietnam but pre rehab) and psychological addiction (people post rehab).

Somebody's car just got towed from in front of work and I'm anxious about having to be the one to tell them.

Lol. While I'm scrolling through facebook marketplace I see gym bro friend of mine in one of the postings selling a Rogue half rack because he got a full cage for his basement. So he's selling that to me for $175 and giving me his "shitty" barbell for $25 to get me started.

I always liked everfresh lime juice and rum.

The ones I'm talking about are premade in a can and sold in the Wine Cooler sections, hence the girly drink comment.

I could make an actual spiked Arnold Palmer like you and save myself the embarrassment but I'm very lazy.

I've chosen this life.... it's too late to go back.....

How long did it take you?

Debating trying to do it for shits'n'giggles once my computer is up and running.
