I bet a podcast would be more informative. It would be cool if Dan Carlin had a giant team to podcast a more diverse and comprehensive telling of American History

What about a lecture series? The Great Courses by The Teaching Company has some high quality shit that I highly recommend (audio > video for me personally).

@The comeback kid @ravden

Oh, and @Limbo Pete

I've visited a lecture in university some (holy hell) 15 years ago on American foreign policy history. But based on how little time I have, I definitely am looking for something that also assists me with some visuals of people, maps, etc. - maybe there is also professional stuff available for free?

A woman I work with lost her husband to Covid. It’s savage. Outside of random violence, Probably the worst way to go from a family member perspective.

I'm glad we've had no new cases in my state today. They went straight to a total lockdown when there was a breach at one of the quarantine hotels (at first they thought two breaches, but it turns out a guard at the first hotel also worked at a pizza shop and the guard from the other hotel caught it from the pizza shop).
If they've tracked them all down, it'll only be 6 days. Although it's the first time my state actually had a real lockdown, and even after a couple of days I can understand the frustration they bring.

Udemy and coursera? Are 2 options of online courses that are often free or discounted. I think coursera is from reputable institutions.

I’m pretty sure we still have no official tracking mechanism here.

I use those for professional purposes, had not even considered that option.

One of the reasons they went straight to full lockdown here, is that the contact tracing determined that people were spreading the infection within 24 hrs of being exposed, and an unsual amount of the infections involved cases where the spreader wasn't even present (either surface spreading or aerosol spreading). Which is unusual, as spreading typically happens with the onset of symptoms after 3-14 days and by direct transmission. That means it could be an even more infectious strain, although more recent reports say it was just an artefact of the extremely aggressive testing protocol.

You can find these.. around, or do a trial subscription. There's even a Skeptic's History for @Limbo Pete.

The full video versions will likely include some maps and visuals, and if you can get a hold of the course Guidebook they might be in there as well. I did one on developmental economics a while ago and the video was nice but wouldn't have been a dealbreaker if I didn't have it.

Coursera is great too and might be more accessible.

So what's the infection fatality rate of covid? Covid gives me links with pages and pages of explanation but zero fucking estimates. drives me nuts.
