I'm trying to be as empathic as I can so I can see what they see in Trump. Like, I assume most of the people here are just trolling when they say they like him. But she's genuinely moved by him. It's probably just a cult mentality? I just really want to talk with a Trump supporter like her.

If the feds keep the money coming, it might not be too bad for anyone not in tourism or travel. The biggest issue for most places is rent money going out but no money coming in and the new rent subsidy should help a lot with that since it will go directly to tenants and not landlords like the previous sucky subsidy.

I might still bleed to death from a thousand cuts, though. My business expenses are quite low thanks to accommodations relating to COVID, but with no revenue to speak of--travel and tourism related business in the era of border closures and bubbles is at a virtual standstill and it's unlikely my revenue (never mind profit) will exceed costs in any month this year and likely half of next year--so it's all down to whether I get enough government support to survive that long. We'll see. I get a chuckle out of how the Conservatives seem to think any message about spending restraint has any hope of getting them into power.


Aside, on the subject of parties attaining power in Canada,

I find the current situation very interesting in comparison to when Chretien was PM. Everyone knew he was a crook, but he did a great job from the point of view of the large majority of Canadians and stayed in power for 12 years.

An unbiased look at Trudeau the Younger suggests he's on the same trajectory. Admittedly, he pretty much got a total pass from immigrant voters on the black face incident purely because they lacked perspective on why it was so offensive to other people, but the fact that he got re-elected after the SNC Lavalin scandal and the messy aftermath (minority position notwithstanding) and then survived a confidence vote after the We Charity scandal--having only to sacrifice his finance minister and install the most popular politician in Canada at the moment I think--the other parties appear to know they might hand him a majority if the forced an election. That can only be explained by Trudeau apparently remaining very popular with voters because of the job he is doing.

And will I use that to trigger the irrational Trudeau haters on this board?

I don't know if you can have a rational conversation with someone who deifies any politicians to that degree, especially Trump.

That's the least-mocking reply I could give you.

Well be joining you again soon. Our government mandate got shut down so now carona is over be how I saw a lotta folks acting yesterday while runnin my errands.

I don't know maybe we are wrong, just look at how much she loves him. I wish I could find a large group of people to worship me like that you know.
