He's one of those people who is bigoted against the abstract idea of the other, in this case leftists and the left, but whose guard can easily be brought down via a one on one exchange with a person of that group. But the problem with such people is that they enable the monsters in their rank and by the time the group as a whole is willing and able to cross the kind of red lines that SDW himself might not people like him are really in no position practically and morally to do anything about it.

You see that on the issue of Islam as well. Many posters who are against Islam as a religious/cultural force and Muslims as a group but who might be able to befriend one or two on an individual basis, especially less devout ones who more or less share their worldview. And who probably aren't okay with extreme policies like mass deportation or a Muslim registry and so on. But many of them are quick to enable and ally with more unsavory characters who are not very likely to befriend individual Muslims and who are open to more extreme polices like mass deportation.

And again same thing with other identity based discussions like race where there are racists and racists enablers. This thread is toxic enough with the dogpile on SDW so I won't name names but I think you guys could make some educated guesses as to which posters fit the descriptions I'm talking about here.

Does anyone deny he does this? Violence is pretty openly a part of The Proud Boys doctrine. The question is whether or not they are white nationalist. They claim not to be and admit non-whites into their ranks but they also engage in some old school WN dog whistling. I don't think it really matters, even if they aren't explicitly white nationalists and are open to non-whites they're still a far right street thug movement. At that point is the fact that they focus on "Muh Western values!" over race even that important?

I'm not even sure he denies it at this point, and his past denials have always come directly after going on Islamaphobic rants or other racist rants.
