I'm going to be honest. The fact no one took the bait on "
I don't really have a "one". Of course there are the standard cerebral flicks, like "Blade Runner" and "2001", but I also enjoy "Demolition Man" and the like.

Most recently, I really liked "Ex Machina", "Upgrade", and "Annihilation". There was also this indie time traveling flick I liked a lot, but the title escapes me. It's not "Primer", which was also quite good.

Was it "Safety Not Guaranteed?" I really liked that one.

Man, I realize it's cunty as hell and not the least bit surprising but I adore that whole indie film style. To this day I still think Royal Tenenbaums and Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou are two of the greatest movies ever made.

By the way, if anyone is looking for something tremendously positive to do for themselves, I highly recommend Sam Harris's "Waking Up" meditation app. I've been using it for about a month and a half now, and this is the best "progress" (dubious term in the context)-- and certainly the most enjoyment-- I've ever had meditating. There is so much great content in the app; it's not just Sam but a variety of teachers and courses he's assembled. Subscription costs $99 per year, but if you are in financial hardship, all you have to do is send an email and you get access to the course for free (no verification either... it is and "on your honor" policy). Also, as a member, I can gift free one month trials. If anyone is interested, PM me.

I've seen "Children of Men" enough to label it a very pretty turd.

I really liked Children of Men, the book is really really good though. All the Christianity references were done really well.

I liked "Children of Men", as based in the UK, it was familiar enough, to me at least, that the dystopian vision was both horrifying and within reach.

I was coming to say Safety Not Guaranteed. What a great flick.

They should've informed us yesterday what was stuck in the pipes. We haven't received a phone call. I'm fearing the worst. I have a feeling I took a bowling ball sized dump on someone's dead cat stuck in that pipe.

... Do you listen to Your Moms House Podcast? Because I have PTSD about Ed Asner lol.
I know nothing about that podcast, but I always liked Asner. I am curious to know; what's your issue, exactly?

Oh it's clearly in reach. Bruh you think the UK is bad?

Member when US imperialists murdered Reuters journalists in Iraq and then when a hero whistleblower leaked it she was brutally tortured for years? I member.

Most the people fleeing violence in Central America are doing so because the US conservatives support murdering children in front of their parents. To be fair, the death squads would sometimes use our CIA funding our their Fort Benning training to kill the parents in front of those kids. You know. As a lesson. Because if you decide to be a Socialist in your own country? That's some audacity that the United States just can't allow.

Granted, y'all Brits wrote the book, especially with the H Block tortures of Sinn Fein leaders, but there is no version of absolute police state in a first world country comparable to the US. It's heinous about the finger nail stuff that happened in the H Block, but mentally ill people have literally been cooked to death in prison showers by laughing guards who faced literally no punishment for their torture and brutal execution of a mentally ill man but it it is.

We live in a jaded dystopia.

@AgonyandIrony have you seen Creep? Mark Duplasse is such an underrated actor.
Yuuuuup. Creep was fucking incredible, the sequel was amazing as well. That final scene in the first one?

He and his brother are also great writers and directors as well. Jeff Who Lives At Home was good, he also wrote Creep and Creep 2. Super underrated guy.

Jeff Who Lives At Home was great.

Someone flushed down a rag in that toilet. The massive shit I took that didn’t flush, eventually met this rag. The two got married if you know what I mean.

Part of my job is my boss sending me a picture of a rag covered in shit with “no worries” alongside it.

Anyway, I did get my promotion today.

Does that toilet cleaning job pay well?

Wooohoooo
Case from Germany:

Photographer accused of resisting arrest, put in front of court. Multiple cops went to court telling the same story: Press photographer went past a barricade, bumped into cop and then fell and injured himself bad.

Shortly before the court was about to close the evidence phase, the defense introduced camera footage from photographer guy (whose camera broke, but data was still good to use). Turns out that cop threatened photographer and then lost it when photographer demanded to know his name/number, pushing him to the ground and choking him. Multiple surrounding cops came to the scene without intervening.

Probably sounded more judgmental than I meant. I support the working class.
No, it’s okay. It’s cleaning toilets and desks and dirty shit other people don’t want to clean. Nothing prestigious about it.

I kind of dislike when people pretend it’s anything more than it is, it feels belittling. I’m well aware it’s a menial job.

I’m going 35 hours next month, but for 30 hours I got paid more than other starter jobs, or even low level office jobs, get paid full time.

Eh, it's probably tedious menial labor, but it's an important job.

When I was a kid, my mom always reminded me to be nice to the janitors and cleaning staff at school. I have no disrespect for those jobs at all.
