Ever notice that Wilma's eyes are just little black dots but Betty has big eyes, including both eye-whites and pupils?

With the men, the situation is reversed. Fred has the big eyes while Barney's eyes are just black dots.

Perhaps Wilma and Barney were significantly Neaderthoid? Or Canadian.

Shut the fuck up.

Take a look at Mormons who hold some crazy ass beliefs, while simultaneously being capable of creating a functioning society that puts most others to shame.

I mean if there is a model community in America it would be the Mormons. Low crime rates, high birth rates, strong sense of community and willingness to help others, anti-vice etc. Very ingroup but still offering pathways into the tribe.

What I'm saying is even people with off the wall beliefs can thrive.

Obviously I'm conservative so I have my biases when it comes to what I think is necessary for society to function properly.

But I think Camille Paglia summarized it best: Better Yahweh than Foucault.

Or better Utah than San Fran to raise a family.

Its good but the cinematography is better.

Yeah, it's very well made on a technical level. The themes and plot are basic bitch stuff, though. It's almost annoyingly pedestrian, when compared to the work that went into it, if that makes any sense.

Yeah its not near Arrival in the hierarchy of intelligent scifi.

Arrival is soooo good.

I have to give that flick a bit more of an opportunity. I didn't care for it initially, but concede that a few things might've gone over my head, or simply didn't click. These types of flicks require re-watches. I've seen "Children of Men" enough to label it a very pretty turd. I'm still on the fence with "Arrival" though.

:( I really liked Children of Men, the book is really really good though. All the Christianity references were done really well.

It could be the clicking. Admittedly it dealt with philosophical themes that ive played out on a personal level but outside of that it is highly rated by both scifi fans and mainstream critics alike. It also might be just be a matter of taste on your end. What's your standard for scifi? What film is the "one" for you?

I can't comment on the book, but the movie was a little too on the nose with it's themes, and felt lazy in that regard.

That's the joke.

I actually don't care about her cult background, though. I'd prefer delusion over conscious corruption ala Kavanaugh.
I figured. I disagree on the delusion vs corruption. I’d much rather deal with a charlatan minister than radical Wahhabism cleric

The externalities are different. For a corrupt, grifting Mitch McConnell-type, they'll pursue and enforce the same social policies as the Wahhabist so long as the policies have support. The only difference is that they'll be using them primarily as vehicles to pass additional policies that do not have support and that are patently indefensible.
