Yeah, when I read Sony's game developer mention about how most of their games cost upward of $100 million to produce, they were sort of saying that console exclusives aren't as viable anymore. To shut out 2 or 3 different revenue avenues doesn't make sense anymore, which is probably why they are starting to put Sony games on the PC.

Either way, I'm sure it's a big blow to their ego, knowing that no matter what, MS will be getting a cut.
Agreed on the blow to their ego.

I like how Sony said console exclusives aren't as doable anymore but they STILL were very bitchy about letting PC get Last of Uf and haven't put any of the Uncharted games on PC or let MLB The Show go to PC or Xbox.

Seriously, the money they could make by allowing just The Show to be multi platform would be impressive as Xbox players are starved for a baseball game.

So I was thinking. How much money laundering is going on with Twitch? Realistically couldn't you take cash, get a throwaway debit card, and "donate" it right back to yourself?
You probably could but you'd need a second computer with a second Twitch account to do that. I feel like Twitch would catch on to your IP address and shit doing that sort of thing.

Not sure if they'd actually stop it though admittedly.

I mean you put the throwaway debit card in a fake name and do the deposit at a Starbucks a few times a week.

Therefore the money isn't really coming from a source that can be traced. You load the cash in person onto the card too.

Pretty sure I'm about to get one of these lmao.

Maybe but that seems like more work than most want to do.

The biggest issue with Twitch is how you can get really bent over the barrel for the taxes.

Doubt much of it is going with how the donation system works plus how obvious it would be if you were to try to do it through large donations
Cash businesses are still the best option for laundering

I am not a gamer. What microsoft did is this a good thing or a bad thing?
In the home console market, Playstation and Xbox are usually seen as competing for the same market share. One of Sony's competitive advantages in the next generation of consoles was its exclusive titles. Microsoft looks to be fighting back.

I'd be a terrible criminal. I mean technically I'm breaking the law right now but like. Those laws are stupid and I treat them like a shitty step dad. I'll acknowledge your existence, but I refuse to accept your authority over me.

@Gregolian thanks guys

I doubt MS will make something like ES a PC/Xbox exclusive. Too much money to be made there.

BUT, MS will now be able to have Bethesda help develop some console exclusive games and they could make certain DLCs for Bethesda games timed exclusives.

Look at what Activision/IW did with the last CoD. There is that horde mode that is a Sony exclusive that comes to Xbox in November... when the next CoD comes out. This deal feels like MS finally trying to fight back against those fucking timed exclusives that Sony has.

Sony has consistently had them with Call of Duty recently... the original Destiny the Hawkmoon which was a damn near game breaking hand cannon was Sony exclusive for 6 months. And even now 3-4 years into the Destiny 2 life cycle there are two strikes and a couple weapons that are just Sony exclusives that Xbox has not and will likely never get to see.

I think they are going exclusives with Xbox. Don't really see they putting it all in to share the wealth, and their statement even reads like "we will evaluate if it isn't exclusive on a "case by case" basis" and all. They won't make as much money on the game itself, by they also won't spend as much having to produce PS5 games, and, they own huge draw games that can make all the RPG buyers go Xbox. If I know ES, Skyrim, and Starfield are all going to Xbox among others and I'm a big RPG guy, their more incentive for me to pay $500 for that system. The amount they lose in single game sales can be made up in console sales, while taking a piece of the console war.

It's almost like back in the day when Xbox was seen as the "console for shooters" and PS was for "fighters". This move pretty much all but wins them the RPG base if they keep it exclusive.

I still contend you won't see them make ES a console exclusive. It feels like there is too much money to be made.

I COULD see them making some DLC and shit be either timed-exclusive or exclusive to Xbox/PC though.

Romney has a net favorable rating in utah
That may be.... but lots of people are grumbly about him too though.

They’ll be on PC anyhow so still no reason to get an XB unless you’re poor.

That's the big problem. People will bitch and moan, but they will typically vote for who they know.

Even a bunch of my die hard republican family members here hate Mitch McConnell. But guess who they will vote for come November?

Sony has bent them over and utterly dominated them in the exclusives department for over a decade. If this isn't them fighting back they never will lol. But yea that's what I meant, not exclusive to only Xbox, but exclusive to Xbox/PC and no access to PS5. That's what they'll do, because the only ones missing out would be PS5 owners and then they can steal some of that market share with the RPG gamers.

If they do make some all-plat games though, you know for a fact they will go all in with timed-exclusive, DLC-exclusive, DLC timed-exclusive, etc on those games.
