@DoctorTaco

The ACE man is finally getting the attention he's been craving.

I haven't listened to a podcart in a while, has he gone full right-wing troll?

This line of argument really makes me Jags fan.

"HAHA, all these people that died were old or had preexisting conditions! We were safe all along and people like that don't deserve to live!"

They're so good. They do an amazing cover of White Man in Hammersmith Palais.

Saw this and thought of you. It's so upsetting.

This line up would have been insane though.

The coolest part is the after party shows. Bro .

This was on top of the flyer I posted earlier bro imagine having to choose which show you want to see.

I've heard so much good stuff about PRB but I've never gone. My friend used to party with Fat Mike a lot and had a lot of funny things to say about him. He also used to play drums for the Vandals sometimes.

I've literally never heard of this. And I really doubt it's a thing. But it could become a thing now because...by God, he's right. You could totally get some distance on a soup can.

Plus the way they roll off your fingers at the end of the throw just feels so good.

I don't mind anthropomorphizing animal behavior because usually it's done accurately. I have a big problem with anthropomorphizing animal expressions, though, which is not accurate at all and usually results in pretending that every pitbull or panting dog is happy and every cat is angry.
No comment on the cat hugging a dog?

@Trotsky

I hate when dorks complain about anthropomorphizing, what about anthropocentrism you heartless idiots? That is clearly love displayed in that video.

That made my morning. Thanks for posting that.

@AgonyandIrony, if Jaynes is right, even humans didn't really have qualities that we think of as human until long after we were biologically evolved to the point where we could. So, like, bad translations essentially anthropomorphize bicameral humans.

From what I've read, the present version of it started with Reagan. He was the first one that was intellectually vacuous but got by on being a "good communicator" and on making Americans feel good with his quips.

He was also the first to openly court Evangelicals by bullshitting that he was a born again Christian. He also played strongly to white identity. Too lazy to look it up but he absolutely demolished among white voters in 84. Something like 65% of the votes. Highest ever, if I'm not mistaken.

It laid slightly low during the 90s (though Buchanan and his culture war stuff were just under the surface). Then it went haywire with Dubya. Full-on evangelical, "I talk to God to guide me in my foreign policy," just insane and embarrassing stuff.

Carter was a contributor, too. Obviously not a Republican, but I think he helped make that stuff a little more palatable. But Reagan wasn't some kind of desert rose of anti-intellectualism and irrationality. He came out of a movement. His win just represented the weeds of irrationality spreading into the garden.

Can you elaborate on why you include Carter ?

Can you elaborate on why you include Carter ?

His entire presidential campaign, from challenging McGovern to the general election, was based around expressly appealing to irrational voters. He parlayed the Watergate scandal into not an indictment of the Republican Party or simply the Nixon administration but rather a moral failing of Washington at large. He soothed the racial anxieties of swing voters with relatively conservative social policies and explicit appeals to religion.

I don't really agree that he's a meaningful figure in this discussion, though. He wasn't the first to weaponize faith or identity politics, and the Democrats returned to their previous presumptive leader as soon as his presidency was over.
