Yeah that makes sense. I was ~18 when it came out for me and the film noir was more like the muppet show / dark crystal. Keaton was better than Adam West LOL (which was great comedy), but Burton's take on Batman was just silly. Then as sequels came out in that series it just got progressively worse as it became a "Cannon Ball Run" of big names and really bad film making. Watching it now and it ages very badly.
I guess I would put Keaton as the best of that series (I cant remember val at all but he was probably close) but IMHO the entire series should be buried it is just so bad when you compare it. to the BB / TDK series.
I'm going to have to rewatch 89 version again.
I remember it getting campy after Burton left and he did both Keaton versions. The first with Jack as the Joker and the 2nd with DeVito as the penguin and Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman (the sexiest catwoman fucking ever).
Val Kilmer was the one with Jim Carrey as the Riddler and Tommy Lee Jones as Two Face.
