Ah, that clears things up. I had interpreted the opposite, like you were critical of class reductionist rhetoric.

Well I can be. I think everyone should be able to be critical of both class and race reduction. A pure class analysis is still more often than not insufficient for analyzing racial issues.

FWIW, had major surgery recently with Kaiser here in Cali.
treatment from start to finish couldn't have been better.
very happy.

not sure why they gave me 100 Oxys for pain though.

Oof
100 right out of the gate or total ?

Yeah and, to be clear, I don't have any respect or admiration for this author. If you supported Romney and were at-all bright, you were fine with moral bankruptcy and dishonesty. There was no rational reason to think Romney presented any kind of sensible alternative to Obama. His solutions ranged from incoherent (tax policy) to willfully ignorant (climate/energy policy) to straight up shameless (foreign/military policy). If I had it my way, guys like him would be denied a seat at the table entirely. If they want to tag along, they can. But they're a silent partner and one that is not only ignored at will but whose suggestions are treated with a presumption of bad faith.

Also, in the areas that I believe are most important - judicial appointments, worker democracy, tax policy - I have no reason to believe Romney would be meaningfully better than Trump currently is.

That really depends on which Romney we are talking about, Guvnor Romney or presidential candidate.

The guvnor had his major flaws but was viable from a policy perspective. The candidate was a function of what the Republican Party had already become. He was right about Russia however on FP and the reset was a joke.

The problems with the R party obviously predates Romney.

They're the same person. It's just that one was playing to a liberal audience and the other to a conservative one. While I can forgive supporting his gubernatorial candidacy, I cannot forgive supporting his presidential candidacy

Damn dude, that's a nasty fall fuck. Glad they're giving you quick and good care but in the future try and limit these types of posts the AmeriCANS will start getting ideas to come up here.
You know what I never considered moving to Canada until I read this post. I fall and bust my ass more and more these days.

So what are the hours?

So I saw the doctor , waiting for bloodwork to rule out a kidney issue and the they're sending me for a CT scan in 24 to 48 hours.

Please tell me the whole thing's gonna cost you like $3,000.

J/k. I'm lucky to have never had any major issues or accidents but the last time I went in was in 2018. My finger hurt like hell out of nowhere so I went to an emergency care center (I was traveling to the World Cup in like 4 days so I couldn't wait).

Dude took 5 minutes to examine my finger and decide it was a cellulitis. Got an antibiotic injection and a prescription for antibiotic pills. Total cost, including copay: just a bit over $1,000

I'm still mad at that. And I bet these people sleep like babies at night.

Thats oversimplifying it imo. For sure he was badly swayed in once case and pulled in a more positive direction in the other. And to be clear Obama was clearly the better candidate. But you could still be a moderate conservative and see Romney as viable / believing that this tea party pandering was temporary and he would revert to something more sane. I mean at the end of the day that’s what he has done. Even if you don’t like Romney, he is like the sole elected voice in federal politics on this front.

edit: also I think one important area left out in terms of potus functions is a coherent leader in a crises.

That is basically highway robbery. Unreal, for a fuckin finger inspection.

Another factor, and I know this is awful, is that the Republican Congress was deliberately tanking the economy under Obama and might have been open to some desperately needed stimulus if Romney had one. You don't want to reward that kind of bullshit, but it's at least a plausible argument for why Romney would have been better.

Yeah that’s definitely an awful reason. For sure there would be more deficit spending under Romney but it may not have all been tax cuts, you are right,

Nothing out of pocket , two ambulances , 1 fire truck just to get me to emerg , another ambulance ride to transfer me for surgery , total hospital stay was 8 days , follow up with the surgeon and a CT scan and all the other miscellaneous odds and ends

And now today's follow up

Really can't complain

I'm stoked you're doing okay, but reading this post as an American is a straight up bummer.
