"Why don't people who criticize systems of exploitation give credit to all the good those systems of exploitation did for those sitting atop them?"

It's laughable that someone would think this is an idea worth posting.

Bertrand Russel is working the counter of a video shop. A customer walked in and asks “do you have any porn here?”. Russell shakes his head.
Later, a second customer comes in and asks “do you have some porn here?”. Again, Russell says no.
Later, a third customer comes in and asks “do you have porn here?”. Russell says yes and points to the back of the store.

I had a friend whose family had a video store. Told me about a guy who had picked out a porn video, but pretended to be checking out the regular movies until the store emptied. Then the guy comes up real embarrassed and hands him the box. My friend went to get the video, but it was out. While the transaction was going on, people walked into the store, and the guy was panicked. "Just gimme anything." "Same genre, right? Not like Remains of the Day?" "Yeah, yeah." "Remains of the Day is good, though. You should check it out. Here you go." Embellished a little...

People will often like stuff that they'd never post because they feel like it goes too far or something. Definitely not something to totally dismiss. But sometimes it's ironic or it's saying "I read your post but I have nothing to say about it." Or something like that. I don't have a problem answering questions about my likes.
Absolutely, I've liked posts for many different reasons. It doesn't mean that every like means "I agree with everything in this post and everything the poster has ever posted". Sometimes shit just cracks me up and I like it. Sometimes it makes me think. Sometimes it's so wacky that I respect the creativity, etc.

I think it's another analytic, totally fair to ask someone for clarification. Of course I hope that no one is taking this too seriously but in this little internet diversion it's part of the game.

I've gotten the most likes on what I consider my worst Cleveland Steamer level shit-posts more often than not though.

You know what, I need to give this some more thought and get back to you, too much work pending and hours limited. East Coast Time here. Later.

The greatest tragedy of Bertrand Russell is that he was born a few decades too late. Make his DOB a half century earlier and he would join the first 10,000 years of civilization in being only known by his writing and reputation.

But, alas, he lived into the video and audio age. So now whenever I think of him, I hear his voice and think of this.

You don't think "likes" are a useful window into the attitudes and psyches of posters? I think they are. It's easy to make fun but in the limited exchanges here I think "likes" can be more revealing than a person's posts.

Besides, since you use the smearing tactic of referencing one's alleged affinity for donuts, one's recollection of a college frat party and drink-spiking, a speculative analysis of one's father's alpha status, etc. to undermine a poster's credibility by character assassination, then accusations of others playing "dirty pool" by playing "like police" don't hold much weight.

Not that I don't appreciate the dedication you have towards the relentless application of said tactics. Then you drop a smart, thoughtful post here and there to throw people off. I think of you as the thinking man's ankle-biter. If you can maintain your standards you have my patronage as a post-reader.

I am interested in your thoughts on my analysis and your grading of the quality of my insults. Your opinion makes a difference, thank you.

God I hate when you guys use the 'I am will teach you' line it makes it so much harder not to like the posts of my enemies. FUCK.

I liked all these, please analyze

I think of this:

Hard to imagine a guy who was attacked by an angry mob for protesting WWI (and was already prominent then) lived long enough to get the Beatles against the Vietnam war.

I am will teach you is a line of mine from many moons ago. It is the strictest form of education a person can give someone online.

Liking a post on Sherdog can make you a POS though according to @AnGrYcRoW.
There are definitely certain post that shouldnt get liked, that are complete POS post. Liking those sort of post repeatedly may make you a POS as well.
