My grandparents constantly cruise, and they’ve spoken to quite a few workers and they live on the tips that they get. They obviously don’t come out and say they’re paid "slave wages" but they clearly are.

I didn’t side step anything actually. I told you after 12 years of cruising I haven’t met one worker who feels like a “slave” as you put it. I’m not saying cruise companies are some bastion of humanity but certainly not “slaves”

The thing is we still really dont know enough.

Well if you’ve only been to a 3 day Bahamas cruise on Carnival with shitfaced college kids then you haven’t really been to cruise. I’m not disputing that they are presently breeding grounds for corona but once you’ve tasted a luxury cruise it’s one of the best vacations you can take and no it’s like a “housing project”. Ive been on the Oasis/Allure/Symphony/Harmony which are the biggest and there’s no lines, there’s no grouping of people simply because there’s too much to do.....and you can’t fall off

Still this, though. If you fall off a cruise ship, chances are you jumped (cruise suicide is quite popular, we even had a celebrity case) or were pushed.

I never said I was pushed. I get English is not your first language, and it is a shit language to be sure, but I literally never said I had been pushed. I said I was likely to be pushed, as a joke.

Also, they are never ever going to tell you that they live and work like slaves. For some, the extreme pittance they earn is the only money they can get back to their homes. But working 16 hour days for next to no money for months on end with no days off is basically slavery

Well yes. and some people just get a mild cold like thing.
It hits people very differently.
One suggestion I saw was bloods type can be a factor.
But as I said we still dont know enough so some people speaking with certainties is dumb in my opinion.

Depends really on the baseline. Country of origin? Pay is ok. Country of cruise customers? Way below Minimum wage.
I am ok with that. The fact that they don't really have a lot of time off seems more problematic imo.

What about the fact the cruise lines would not let them return home and have kept them prisoners on the ships for months during corona with no pay/?

Yeah it’s clearly impossible to do it unless you want to. The saddest case I’ve read is the grandpa with the granddaughter actually holding her up and out of a window....
