He liked the power too much to just "walk away". At best, I think he at least got a warning about his shit, and perhaps that was the issue he had with the direction of modding, and rage quit.

Also, being 50 doesn't mean anything. The guy would make irrational and angry posts that I would attribute to a 15 year old girl on their period.

well, he legimitately would get confused as to who was who due to relying on outdated IP tracing from the old software. It worked okay initially, but when mobile phone posting became more prevelant it put everything out of whack for him. I tried to explain that people posting in cities on mobile phones would be pooled to a single IP, but he just thought there was one master troll out there fucking with him through hundreds of accounts. He isn't lying with the "computer fogie" thing. It impacted on how he interacted with people as he just assumed they were THE troll.

A lot of it has to do with advertisers, the genocide comments when mixed with Political commentary can sometimes index the site as a Political extremist site, which drives off advertisers away from the site.

Pretty bad when you have to explain the difference between a sport with violence, and advocating violence against citizens and genocide.

Again, I'm not protesting his ban. He broke the rules on dubs. That's a clear ban.

If you need to ban the discussion of something peripheral to the ban, that's your prerogative and I'll respect it.

He stepped down back in 2014 as well, didn't come back until 2 years later. I think we had another Mod/Admin that would step down and then come back every couple of years.

That's...pretty funny.

Think it might be good premise for a sitcom. Literally the old guard internet guy vs the new guard. This shit is evolving. It's no longer just "Gramps who doesn't know what the internet is". It's "Gramps who only knows what the early forms of the internet is."

Because I actually hate banning people, even though people seem to believe otherwise. I don't ever want to take away from our community. Even if it's someone that outright loathes me simply because of the color of my name.
 
While the admins are here, I'm a bit saddened I've never been asked to do modship duties. I know it's more responsibility than I can handle, but sometimes you gotta go for those stretch assignments.
