Hey @Sketch how much is talked about in Canada about your contribution to the American Civil War? around 50,000 Canadians fought against the evil of the Confederacy, as well as generally being the desired location for slaves escaping the brutality of their slavemasters.
"No one can fully understand Canada without appreciating that the war was an essential factor in the country's birth," wrote historian John Boyko in his 2013 book Blood and Daring. "We owe it to ourselves to understand the Civil War - to heed its whispering ghosts."

Also @KnightTemplar I didn't realize you had a monument to Lincoln in Scotland and some notable fighters on the Union side.

This dude was a Captain for black soldiers. Also more famous for being a master in Chess.
Fuck you and your Marxist trash cunt friends.

At least have the balls to tag me tou wpem fucks.
That's not very nice. I am curious, have you read much Marx? I'd be curious to know your thoughts on The Civil War in France: The Paris Commune.

Of course I've read some of his work...my primary criticism of Marxism is the same one Nietzsche had

There is nothing wrong with this post as it is 100 percent accurate.

You guys can do all the Monday morning quarter backing, captain hindsight analysis...doesnt change the fact that many of you are yearning for bad news and more death.

No one is "yearning" for more death. That you believe that is awful.

What would you have done differently?

Seriously? How about what the experts said? Or what every other country did. (1) emergency orders to produce more respirators and expand medical facility beds, (2) national-level lockdown orders restricting movement between states, (3) national shutdown orders forbidding the operation of nonessential businesses and restricting non-patient access to medical facilities, (4) broad entitlement programs so that people can comfortably survive without employment and are not incentivized to endanger themselves, and (5) using the presidential platform to urge citizens to take it seriously and to appreciate good domestic and commercial hygiene, i.e. NOT downplaying it and fueling conspiracy theories about how it's a hoax.

Again, just the things other countries have done. Remove your head from the sand, please. The idea that "the left" is being revisionist and wasn't shouting for this months ago is shameless.

I'm too consumed with rage right now to respond to this intelligently. Will book mark for tomorrow

Huh. Never knew Orwell caught a bullet through the neck. Lucky man to survive that intact.

Glad the communists didn't kill him when they were purging the democratic socialists and anarchists from Republican Spain for being crypto-fascists.
Orwell and Hemingway are two of my favorite people in literary history and they were both highly impacted by what they saw in Spain. The Anarchist feminists were pretty fucking badass as well. Lucia Saornil in particular.

"a. To create a conscious and responsible feminine force that will act as a vanguard of progress; b. To establish for this purpose schools, institutes, lectures, special courses, etc., to train the woman and emancipate her from the triple slavery to which she has been and still is submitted: the slavery of ignorance, the slavery of being a woman, and the slavery of being a worker

It's why I have such a fascination with going to Rojava, Anarchists, Socialists, and Communists fighting for control of their own destiny. A shame we blatantly allowed Turkish slaughter of the Kurds once again, but what we've recently found out about correspondence between Erdogan and Trump, it makes more sense. More likely after Corona finally gets under control, I will head to the Zapatista controlled territory in Chiapas. They just extended their zone with the blessing of the President of Mexico and Subcomandante Marcos and I've always wanted to attend St Patricks Day festivities in Mexico City and learn more about the San Patricios, the Irish who fought against American imperialism and sided with Mexico. Legendary in combat too and when the US Army tortured Comandante John Riley in front of his men with nooses wrapped around their necks they cried words of encouragement to their leader and in return when they hung he cried out to them as well.

The US Army was particularly cruel in their torture and execution of Irish prisoners. Interesting bit of history I've always wanted to explore more.

Well, what are your opinions about that work in particular?

It’s a cultural thing, imo. I am not talking about an outlet for aggression. Though I do think getting your ass kicked by people you have to see and train with over and over again is part of the equation. Of course,!where you train and who with makes a big difference, too.
I figured that's what you were implying by saying it'd simmer him down, if not then disregard what I said I guess.
I actually like @Social Distance Warrior even though he’s an acronym fetishist.
Me too, I just think he's a little misguided with his political priorities.
