Yeah

Ebola really is a nothing burger on the global scale at this point. The flare ups happen, WHO has learned effective standards to keep it contained, and it burns itself out quickly.

Obviously every disease sucks and rip those it has claimed, but one with Covid’s infection rate is far worse. The times Ebola has gotten in the US it’s resulted in 11 people getting infected and 2 dying. It’s a much easier disease to handle than Covid.

And like you say Ebola is nothingburger because we know how it acts and how to contain it.

Covid-19 is still very new with a lot of unknowns.

Hopefully one day it will be a nothingburger as well but that day obviously is not today.

Are you arguing that only conservatives have contibuted to the spread? I agree that often times people try too hard to place blame on "both sides". But in that case, it seems pretty obvious that lockdown protesters, people flaunting safety precaution, re-opening and George Floyd protests have all contributed to the issue. Not equally, but again - please don't piss in the pool and tell me it's not a big deal because someone else pissed in it more. Please just don't piss in the pool.
im in agreement here, much needed as it is , the middle of a pandemic aint the wisest place to hold mass protests.

A staff member joining the lounge is like a teacher in school trying to be cool and join in on a group convo during recess.
Some teachers are cool , not many , but some ...

Of course I'm commenting on the tendency of these people to reject and/or transfer all responsibility onto others, particularly when it's favorable to their racism. I do understand the impulse to say that both sides are behaving badly. I am not commenting on that. Americans generally are behaving badly with this disease. I'm commenting on the political capitalization, which has a distinctly different character, a.k.a. scapegoating. Scapegoating is a stone-age superstition that still fucks things up. Scapegoating also critical to conservative positions now that they are otherwise indefensible.

So apparently the State has cut a deal with the Golden State Killer to plead guilty to avoid the death penalty.

My only question is, why? Dude is like 1000 years old. He ain't making it to his execution date, so why even bother? From the State's position, I can understand not wanting a long, expensive, and pointless trial. On his end though? Why bother? Shit, I'd plead not guilty, just to get time away from my cell for the trial.

I've followed that case very closely for years and I've been watching the livestream of his appearance all day today. They are going through EVERY crime they have on him and having him plead guilty. They're also having him admit fault for additional circumstances in those cases that they can't charge him for, but he will admit to them anyways.

As far as your question is concerned, Deangelo knows he's spending the rest of his life behind bars. There is literally zero chance he doesn't. It's just a matter of where he wants to spend it. Case drags on for years, he stays in county jail, which is worse than prison I guess. Get found guilty after a trial, and live on Death Row for his remaining years. This way, he spares his daughters and grandchildren a gruesome trial where prosecutor's most definitely would be putting them on the stand.

This should have been the biggest news story of 2018 as well as the advancement of using genetic geneology to solve crimes and how much it's changed the world of law enforcement. I'm still shocked at how nobody is talking about it. The amount of shit this guy did is absolutely staggering. Top 10 worst human beings to ever live, IMO.

I’m just not viewing covid through partisan eyes. There arent democrats and republicans - there are people who are making avoiding the spread of COVID a priority and those that aren’t. I don’t care about who they vote for anymore than the virus does. I’d like to limit the spread of the virus, and in order to do that we need to hold individuals accountable, not just a select subset of that group.

All that said, if you had to have one: Ebola, or Covid-19... which would you choose? Certainly Covid-19.

Thus, ‘which is worse’ is kind of a context-dependent question when comparing viruses.

Which would I rather have in my body? Obviously Covid

Which would I rather have in my state or country? Definitely Ebola

I would absolutely trade Covid for an Ebola outbreak right now. So dismissing Covid as "it's no Ebola" seems very wrong to me

Yeah I see what you’re saying. If you see my response to curry, I’m speaking more towards the results of our individual actions, and how they aren’t affected by our political affiliations. It’s not about holding any single group accountable, but holding each individual who has flaunted safety precautions accountable.

He went to Poland and declared it a well functioning country, because of them being white of course. <{yahyou}>
Reminds me of something a Croatian friend told me once , a bunch Croatians he knew adopted children from Russia specifically because they were white ,( they didn't want Asian or black babies ) and a significant number of the babies ended having fetal alcohol syndrome , but hey at least they were white ...

Yeesh. Well I disagree, but I respect your opinion. And I hope you get neither!

i largely agree, but think theres a difference between a person protesting yet another police killing and a numbnuts larping with his ar15 cos the hairdressers aint open and hes asked to wear a mask in walmart. the leader of the country being a retarded dumbfuck about the whole thing certainly doesnt help.....
edit, its not just confined to the US, loads of morons packed the beaches in the UK this week, and the prime minister decided to do push ups to prove he was over his dose, instead of fixing the clusterfuck he made of the government response.
people tend to divide into responsible adults or selfish cunts.
