I don't know enough about this poster to ascribe it to him individually, but I think that's a consistent problem with the political right: a tangible lack of empathy that leads them to only conceptualize bad things in terms of PR and how it reflects on them. And I think that's why the past decade has seen an all-out war on contrition for the American right: admitting doing something wrong is way, way worse than doing something wrong.

Never heard of Shoplifters, it looks really good. I’ve heard good things about pbf, too. I need to be in the right kinda mood to fire up either of those movies.

I got to see him him in a town hall type setting near the end of his career. He was taking questions and this one lady got up and was yelling at him over something. He stopped her and said “I can’t hear you, let me walk over there first so I can hear you” and she kept saying no that’s okay as he slowly got himself over there. By that point, he’s then pointing his ear about a foot away from her mouth and her tone suddenly changes to “well um, what I was saying is _____ happened and umm I wasn’t happy hearing about that....”. It was soooo funny and I still can’t determine to this day if he trolled her a bit by doing that or if he just legit was super old and hard of hearing. I could believe either as he looked pretty frail and somewhat confused at times.
