War Room Lounge v132: Jack used rhetoric. It’s not very effective...

Always nice to see Mitch squirm. Which, to be fair, is hard to tell apart from his regular movements.

Mitch oozes under childrens' bedroom doors at night to steal money from their piggybanks.

@Limbo Pete Thoughts about Thomas Jefferson?

It's my impression that he was a larping neckbeard scumbag. He regularly engaged in revolutionary speak about blood, patriots, and liberty but never held any actual emancipatory beliefs. He also fucked a 14 year old slave, kept raping her and kept her as a slave for 40 years, and fathered multiple children into slavery. And that POS squandered his enormous inheritance, so his hundreds of slaves - only two of whom were emancipated - were all sold to new slavers to pay his fucking debts. Including his children and his concubine.

(A Mizzou student started a petition to take a TJ statue down and was rejected by the administration) @Lowmanproblems
Ehhhh, a lot of those Founding Father types were basically sacks of crap. Important and capable in that time and place, but pricks even by the standards of their own time.
And even if they were upright citizens, whatever that would even mean, the ideas they put forward about why and how to form a government revolved heavily around themselves, their own material needs, and what the role would be for elites in a new government (how much power do we allow the unwashed masses to actually have). I always found Hamilton refreshing, albeit bombastic, because he wasn't afraid to just straight up be like "hey, let's have a monarchy because all these ignorant fucks don't know their asses from a hole in the ground."
It's important to get a full a view of historical actors, warts and all. These were complicated people with changing views throughout their lives, as happens to most anyone ever. Lots of different things can be true about a person, place, event, etc. Jefferson was not some paragon of virtue -by our standards or theirs. His views on the world went directly into shaping the foundation of this country, so we should definitely try to understand his life as completely as possible. Men like him operated in a world of privilege we honestly can't even imagine. Elite of the elite, rulers of a new world granted by god to make them fat and rich beyond all sense and reason.

Interesting.... lawyers of Sherdog... is it illegal to hit someone that's given permission to hit you?

My guess is it is outside of something like a sport activity, but maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe it would only be illigal if the hit casued actual injury? I think I recall a lawyer once telling me people can't legally consent to injury.

So I just watched Da 5 Bloods, new movie by Spike Lee.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9777644/

My god was it awful. I mean, Spike Lee's had some questionable ones, but I felt he had a couple good hits lately. But christ this one is bad. Part of it was the former Marine in me eye rolling at the terrible "tactics" on display in any action sequence. But the rest was just so bad. Like terrible cheap 80's movie choreography and shit. And the tone was all over the place. It would switch from a serious political tone to almost slapstick action and then back again all in a span of 5 mins in this 2 1/2 hour film.

Can anyone else confirm that I'm not alone here?

The invasion of Afghanistan probably had something to do with that. Retribution for the worst attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor. Plus they had just riled up the masses for Iraq.

Yup, pretty much every pres will get a popularity spike in war, no matter how stupid or unjust it is.

You stooped lower than your previous single-sentence replies by just proudly declaring things that are objectively untrue.

In his will, Jefferson freed three older men who had been forced to work for him for decades.[11] In 1827, the remaining 130 people who had been kept as slaves at Monticello were sold to pay the debts of Jefferson's estate.[12][13][14]

And, @Anung Un Rama, you can read that Smithsonian article as evidence why we can judge pre-Civil War persons on a relative basis, as the article makes the clear case that Washington was a man of conviction and principle, and Jefferson was a self-interested charlatan.

Okay, go have fun being smart somewhere.

<{dayum}>

First time reading that Fossett story.

Sure but Benjamin Franklin was cool right? Didn't he learn French from French sluts?

I'm actually amazed you have been drinking for about half your life, in excess of up to 1 litre a day of hard liquor and you quit cold turkey with no hospitalizations or withdrawals. You've mentioned anxiety, anything else? Shakes? Headaches?

I've thought for a while now that all the medical info we see about alcohol and quitting it, doesn't apply to a certain population of people the same way. Namely, Europeans or people with drinking backgrounds (Irish, polish Russian etc)

You should not have been able to just quit like that. What's your backgrounds again?

The Polish Beer Lover's party is a political party in Poland that's goal is to get people to drink beer instead of vodka to fight alcoholism.

Haven't seen it, but I was surprised at how bad his movie Blackkklansman was. I was legit looking forward to watching it and I had heard that Lee had stormed out of the Academy Awards that Green Book won over Blackkklansman and I had already seen the Green Book and enjoyed it. So I was really surprised that Blackkklansman was as stupid as it was.

I'm surprised. I have heard elsewhere it was a good movie. I will likely watch anyway for the story since it's based upon true events. We'll see, I guess.

I'm so glad this BLM rally has free sunscreen lol.

Super cool time to quit drinking. The bars opened today and I walked past around twenty on my way over here.

The Irish coffeehouse and Irish cultural museum are open now. Some of the best Irish whiskeys in the world. I'll be strong lol.
I heard the tale of the Ax Man the other day. Quite the story. I presume you cover it in your tours?
