Seeing people defend looting and violence is retarded and reactionary but I also think you so have to separate the protests from the riots. I think anyone that's been paying attention has seen a lot of videos of protesters trying to stop rioters.

We've also seen enough sports championships parades to see that if we have large enough mass gatherings where the cops can't control people rioting is going to happen from those that want to take advantage of the situation.

It seems to be more of unfortunate by product.

Who remembers how crazy the Vancouver riots were? Dudes slap shotting tear gas canisters back at the cops

I was just watching one about 10 minutes ago. Much kudos to the protesters that are standing up to it, those are the real heroes out there because even the protesting itself is a risk due to all the tension in the air.

Agreed for sure. It's that human element, when they can lash out they're gonna lash out. The sports comparison is a prime example because it's literally over a game that they can go crazy. I completely forgot about those Canada riots lololol. That must have been about 10 years ago now. That was insane. Hockeybjj was probably there too.

Police acting like this will surely help cool the political temperament.

There’s a lot of clips of people just standing around and cops using those big shield to knock people over or run into them. A lot of people losing their cool out there and entirely missing the point why they are stationed there.

It's crazy to me that they cant see that those sort of actions only give validation to the protest and riots. That is what I dont understand about the people calling for heads to be cracked. We have seen some great examples about law enforcement officers having great interactions with protesters and even marching with them.

Are you talking about the Stanley cup riots in Vancouver or a different one ?

Yea it’s garbage. I think the entire point here is people want real law and order, accountability, and deescalation. If your violently knocking protestors down or looting, your not really showing that much.

I said this earlier but people really should get TikTok just to watch footage. Some of the things on there were very raw and essentially live footage on the ground. There was a lot of injustice going on.

I think it's a huge component of the anger and disconnect people have with police nationwide. Qualified immunity is behind so many utterly bullshit times that cops have gotten away with abuses of power so extreme that they make wide ranging headlines. Furthermore, I think the results of applying it in such fucked up ways has contributed to ever-present-but-less-than-articulated norms that assume police corruption and brutality will go unpunished without extreme efforts and really exaggerated guilt.

It’s a massive part of it but not the only part of course. You can add the simple impact of history (slavery, segregation, and defacto segregation), an overarching set of policies that increase income inequality, and (hate to say it) cultural self fulfilling prophecy. Even with a very different history and set of social policies many Canadian blacks I know are ready to explode and don’t think things are that much better where they are. It’s not easy to untangle it all but Canada just shares much of the US cultural baggage by osmosis despite being very different.

But at the end of the day when you are poor and frustrated with no opportunity it’s no wonder that whole communities can explode over something like this. We can call the looters vile assholes all we want, but if things are changed it will just happen over and over again.

Just saw a video of them shoving a photographer into a fire, and some German media people getting shot up with pepperballs.

The "light her up" national guard video was worrying as fuck too. It's weird to see people that jerk off about fighting tyranny go through insane lengths to justify that behavior.

This cop was held accountable, though...the system worked.

One estimate says a 1000 people are killed by police shootings every year. 26% are black. That’s roughly twice their population. Not a great statistic but given there are 40mm black living in the USA, I don’t think the riots are about the extra 130 blacks killed by the police each year.

This is about broken systems, lack of opportunity, harassment, and simple history. I see it everywhere, “how do we know he was racist?”. We can ignore the context, but I don’t think I will ever have to have “the talk” with my child about how to behave around a cop to ensure he is not beaten up or worse.

I cackled when the pigs figured out who he is. They looked so sad lol.

gonna be a wild night in scottsdale.

got borderlands 3 super deluxe addition for 39.99

So great, thanks for proving my point that action is only taken when video is released.
No one could've known what happened without it. Thanks for proving my point.

Uh, the DA did and he chose not to charge his old cop buddy. We, as in the public, only knew once the video was released which is why they got arrested but the cops and prosecutors knew beforehand and didn't do anything until the public outrage. So again, thanks for proving my point numb nuts.

No reason to get upset on a karate forum.
