It makes sense as something to ward off starvation for people you hate, but voluntary consumption should be avoided.

It also makes people dumber and have shorter attention spans (seriously, pregnant women eating it has been shown to possibly have that effect on their babies).
Black licorice can lead to GERD and cardiac arrhythmia. Not kidding.

I'm going to write a biography about Dinesh D'Souza titled:

Dinesh D'Souza: Licorice Baby

I will say black licorice is definitely an old persons flavor. Like butterscotch. Those are like original old people flavors before people thought you can make new flavors for things.

Fuck. Souza tested positive. He’s out. Hoping they don’t cancel the whole thing now due to his contact with others involved

my mom always has butterscotch candy in her bag. ever since I was a kid.

to this day she still offers it to me as if I'd ever change my mind.

Before people discovered ways to make portable, dry delivery systems for processed sugar that were edible.

Like when was “blue” popularized? Kids always ask for “blue.” Kids love that color (flavor)

It must’ve been a hard pill to swallow for old people when they first came face to face with “blue.” Let’s face it that color (flavor) isn’t for them.

It’s like rum raisin or tapioca. You have to be in the mood for it imo

Red licorice is tasteless but not actively offensive, but black licorice tastes awful, and I think a lot of us have memories of it being presented as a treat or mixed in with candles.
I thought we had, in our advanced age, revisited the bitter, unsatisfying treats of our childhood, and embraced them with our sour souls. I was led to believe this was my right upon getting old.
