War Room Lounge v116: Where does the "incestuous" part come in though? That's the juicy part.

I remember Dana hyping the shit out of Phillipe Nover right before that season of TUF aired calling him the next Anderson Silva.

Pat Barry was hot topic for second and pretty exciting. Just left his jaw open a bit too much

Nover is definitely the best answer. Completely forgot about him being the next Anderson.

Personally, I was a Gonzaga truther. After he destroyed Cro Cop I thought he was gonna be the next Fedor.

That last lounge got me thinking, but who were the most hyped up but ultra flop fighters ever? Like, guys who were supposedly going to make this huge mark, or guys who were just "so good they can do it all", but never really ended up doing anything, or just massively flopping when they had to show it? Or both? I can think of randomly off the top of my head.

-Hector Lombard (#NeverForget)
-Sage Northcutt
-George Sotiropoulos
-Nick Diaz
-Brandon Vera (#NeverForget)
-Paulo Thiago
-Cheick Kongo

Gotta run for a bit but these names randomly came to me lol.
Sokodjou.

Nick Diaz???

Anyways:
Falcao
Gonzaga
Rory Macdonald
Houston Alexander
Paul Harris

Houston Alexander vs Kimbo Slice was the most disappointing fight of all time.

That being said he was pretty ling in the tooth when he got to the UFC. Looking at his record he also KOed Alessio Sakara who I remember had a lot of hype at one point.

Who remembers Sokoudjou storming onto the scene with back to back KOs of lil Nog and Arona?

Soko is another excellent answer.

I'm with you on Gonzaga. Thought he had the size and skills to be a longtime champ

Ultimately, he just wasn't as athletic as I thought. Very flat footed and straight-line. So he didn't have explosive takedowns or the ability to dodge strikes.

NATO Deputy Secretary General, Mircea Geoană, explained how NATO is supporting Allies in the fight against COVID-19 during an online event held by the Atlantic Council with the NATO Public Diplomacy Division today (16 April 2020). Speaking at the event by video conference, he said, “Our DNA is crisis management, command and control, efficiency and logistics, and putting together in critical moments the pieces that can make an alliance work in times of distress.”

Ambassador Geoană said that NATO was created to deal with crises and that we are playing our part in tackling this crisis. NATO aircraft have flown over a hundred missions transporting hundreds of tons of vital medical equipment from across the world to where they are needed most. Allied armed forces have provided 25 field hospitals, more than 4,000 medical personnel and over 25,000 treatment beds.

The Deputy Secretary General emphasized that NATO continues to maintain a strong deterrence and defence to ensure the health crisis does not become a security crisis. As well as maintaining operational readiness, NATO is paying particular attention to countering the rise in COVID-19 related disinformation. NATO Allies are countering propaganda with facts and concrete action.

Ambassador Geoană also stressed the importance of NATO engaging with industry, academia, and think tanks like the Atlantic Council in order to improve resilience and learn lessons for the future.

I appreciated your contributions. Even though you were wrong AF. :)
During their UFC reigns Anderson beats Shogun, Rashad or Rampage.

But I don’t want to disrespect Rashad’s historic undefeated run to the LHW title when he beat Sam Hoger, Sean Salmon and got a gift draw with Tito Ortiz before beating the ghost of Chuck Liddell. @CubicleGangster

America First Action PAC headed by Linda McMahon announces 18.5 million dollars worth of pro-Trump TV ads same day WWE gets declared 'essential business' by Republican governor in Florida? And no thread?

Nah, he's the one who turned Liddell into a ghost

After that, he obliterated Griffin, dominated Thiago Silva and Rampage, stopped Tito, and outwrestled Davis before losing to Jones. Don't think he should have been favored over Anderson, but he was a much better opponent than anyone Anderson faced in his title reign (also look at how easily he handled Sonnen), and he certainly would have had a shot.

Wow yall had some excellent answers for the UFC hype busts lol. Upset at myself for not remembering "young GSP" Nover. Would probably put him only below Brandon Vera.

Sokodjou.

The thing is, he starched two top-5 fighters. That's two more than most people ever do. And he had the judo background which he hadn't even shown yet. Does Brock get consideration here or does the "title" (Fedor was the HW champ until Werdum beat him) lift him out of consideration? I was on the Bektić train, and he seems to be a flop. Duquesnoy is another one.

You realize it’s not just WWE and not just pro wrestling, right?

Brock has to get consideration. There was a time where people legitimately were arguing that he would have beaten every HW in history because he was so unstoppable. That it would be impossible to not get GnP by Brock no matter who it was. Pepperidge Farm remembers.

All of those guys certainly had the ability, and of course the size, to give Anderson trouble. Of course, so did Forrest Griffin theoretically.

But it’s not shitposting if it’s not wildly hyperbolic and biased.

Anderson himself got his title shot by beating Chris Leben.

Beating Tito > beating Leben.

Rashad gets hella disrespect around these parts.
