Cutting firewood is great imo, never had a sore back. But weeding? That’s just a back-killer. I see so many old people hurting their backs with useless weeding.

What a back killer for sure. You see lot's of old people doing this stuff? like family or something?

You should hit up the library or something in your area and find out which wild plants are edible. You’d be surprised really surprised, I know I was. Almost every plant I thought: “Wait, that’s edible?! Why the fuck do we grow lettuce”

That's why I watch Naked and Afraid

Neighbors, houses I pass while going to work etc. They weed the pavement. I bet they complain about having a bad back, too.

@tonni

Been like what, a few days now no number, no discord? What's up?

Bad backs, neighbors, I'm not interested in your Belgium past times.

I lived in the northeast and used to have to mow my aunts’ properties, which were a few acres each, with a push mower.
I also lived in the desert. I would gladly push mow 3 acres over pulling 100 sf of weeds.

Yea. My parents property had acres to mow too. I’d always get a section done just to be told to mow another section I just did a few days earlier. Really sucked but it mostly fells like more intensive outside vacuuming.

Maybe you or @Lead can correct me but while weeding sucks I thought it was mostly a once a year endeavor (at least the heavy lift) while lawn mowing is done weekly

Mowing is more frequent but it depends also how big the garden is. The place I weeded was a very rich family and they had a lot of land. Like I was using a golf cart to drive to different parts of it.

I really miss it tbh cause I think it always kept me in good shape and strong in a way that’s hard to replicate with weights. Like our wood was dropped off at the top of a hill so I’d have to cut it, load it in a wheel barrel and carefully go down the hill keeping it balanced and preventing it from picking up speed. There was a sharp turn you’d have to make at the bottom of the drive way and if you allowed it to pull you down and pick up, you had no chance of making the turn and everything would fall out. Some of my friends would go out and try it but they never could handle that part for some reason. It was like a fun version of a farmers carry.

Awesome, I’ve had the exact same experience actually. Chop the logs at the top of the hill, put it in a barrel, try not to tip it over while going down a small road with a sharp turn, run back up the hill with the barrel.

Great for your forearms and hand strength, dude. It was pretty warm outside too, quite the exercise.

Well, enjoy retirement I guess. Like many before you, I can afford you a good retirement here, but your race is done and over.
You don’t want me to leave.
