I feel like an idiot for just realizing this, but you should never lift glasses straight up from the coaster. Point it down to break the seal.

If you’re out somewhere (wouldn’t do this at home), there’s a great little trick where if you put a little table salt on the coaster or napkin, it won’t stick at all. Very helpful at establishments where they use the thicker paper coasters.
