War Room Lounge v100: Come with me one a magical journey through time and dirty toilets

I think we should go back to having poems in the OP:

The Waking
BY THEODORE ROETHKE
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree; but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

Yes absolutely wonderful secretions. Poetry is the only measurement of the viscosity of the encephalopathys juices. Every word spurts with flavour that we all must taste with enjoyment.

To be fair he didn't even admit to doing it until 2004.

If he issued a genuine mea culpa off the bat he may have gotten in.

I can't see how. The rule doesn't state that you're on the permanent ineligible list if you bet on a game in which you have a duty to participate but it's cool if you admit doing it and are sorry.

There is definitely a strong case for keeping him out I'm just in the " let the poor bugger in camp "

There probably should be but all the Republicans fainted when they saw her rip it up.

Her lack of civility has shocked them into a coma

This is so funny because it's somehow so true.

Also, I think Bloomberg is more electable than Biden in light of Biden's recent cognitive spiral and sharp turn on gun control (which now effectively matches Bloomberg's).

But all of the candidates have apparent electability problems. Sanders is going to face backlash from plutocrats and Democratic insiders in addition to being red-baited by the GOP. Warren has a host of identity issues, not the least of bit being her neuroticism and increasingly erratic behavior. If it weren't for his being gay, I'd say Buttigieg is by far the strongest in electability and I would be singularly at-ease with him running against Trump. But, alas, young Pete is a sucker for dude's butts.

I should revise that. @Damien Karras expressed his disapproval, and he's a good poster from what I remember. And, while I'm disappointed that I disappointed him, I stand confident in my reaction. I'll reserve some dignity in response to deaths of persons with literally any redeeming qualities - like George H.W. Bush or John McCain for instance (the latter of whom was way, way more bad than good) - but I feel no desire nor need to pretend that people like Rush Limbaugh and the horde of evil-souled swindlers that are destroying the world deserve even a smidgen of respect. They live dishonest and predatory lives of negative worth, and, as I said in that thread, their graves will deserve being spat on.
Honestly, it probably has more to do with my personal relationship with cancer and terminal illness as I was hit with a diagnosis a few years ago. So because of that tend to empathize with anyone who've had it regardless of what they say or do. So I'm a bit biased.

By the way, @Fawlty I can resist no longer. So help me, man. I tried, I really tried but Captain Pedantic demands an answer. Is "one" in the thread title deliberate, like a direct quote, or a typo? If it's a quote, can you link me to the original?

Come on, mang. All you had to do was search the phrase "time and dirty toilets" and you'd see that it's from this post by @tonni, which has the typo.

Btw, @tonni, are you really a custodial engineer?
I was like "hehe good one custodial engineer, I prefer lavatory wizard" but it's apparently the official term for someone who dusts off desks and vacuums the floor and srubs the toilets real good.

But yes, I'm an engineer (custodial).

Apparently, all I had to do was ask the question.

And it was more fun. Do you not see sufficient humour in my post to make it worthwhile?

I actually didn't make the type but I changed my original post to match @Fawlty 's stupidity.

That's wild. Since the two known janitorial technicians on this board are you and Seano, there is an even wider distribution of intelligence for members of that profession than there is for the board's lawyers (which spans from Quip/pan to Russler to Amerikuracana).

She shouldn't be jealous. Once I hit 30 and I was still being asked for ID it was more pain in the ass than flattering moment. Especially if you're just trying to have a beer with your lunch or get a pack of cigarettes in a hurry.

And every time I said, "Lady, I'm over 30," they'd say, "Then you should take it as a compliment", and I would say, "No, I take it as a pain in the arse."

LOL

It's just tonni's typo. I copy/pasted from his post, and by the time I had noticed the error, I decided to leave it for funsies + laziness.

I love stuff like that. Janitorial technician, custodial engineer. I lol every time. I actually think it's more condescending that people think I take more pride in my job because it has a fancy name, than that people look down on me because I clean up other people's trash (like a boss btw).

No way you can't tell me that dimwit is a lawyer, can't fucking believe that. Not a fucking chance.

I pull out my ID with a big silly grin on my face and boast about it for like the rest of the night

Even as I'm walking out with the liquor

"remember that time I got ID'd for liquor"
