No, that was the other move :pI was talking about the one where you failed to defend your king and gave up a knight instead of pushing back the queen.

Don't take this the wrong way btw, I cannot play chess for shit, just stuff I saw outside in. The way @Lead made his initial moves instantly built pressure and seems to indicate he knew what he was doing...

Watch the two games with me and lowman. We both won each game by moving a piece which indirectly caused a check while putting the other persons queen in danger.

Nope all good. Like I said I learned the game as a kid and know how the pieces move, but never at all learned any strategies or best practices of what to do when. I'm just whinging it. Having fun tho, looking up a few common openings and counters to not fuck myself in first 4 moves and actually trying to use this tourney here to learn the game.

@Lowmanproblems scored a win over @Lead , which has me very concerned for my current game with Lowman considering the ease at which lead dispatched me. Outside announcers for game results and feedback adds an element of fun to this.

I’m with Hockey, I know the pieces and that’s it

@sickc0d3r take the BIct h you dirty rat mutha fuck fuck

All in the game, yo.

The losses I feel the worst about are frittering away ''won'' endgames. I'd rather get checkmated than draw an endgame with an outside passer.
For sure. So far one of my random 10 minute opponents have been super aggressive players who know a handful of tactics, but it takes a lot longer to defend stupid aggression because I don't know the tactics. It's almost like the bullshit asymmetry principle in board game form for now. I come out of it with a winning position usually, but then I'm way down on time.

Stop being scared. You know there's a chat function for a reason right? You can post forks.

Hehe yes. I'm going to apologize every time I take a piece. "Jesus I'm sorry, I had to. You ok?"
I was thinking more literally, not sarcastically. You're trying to crush people's minds here and it's quite intimidating. Chess may be too dense a jungle.

Wow.... That sucks. Wonder what happened.

Not to be insensitive, but he probably wouldn't have wanted that to be his last SD communication before he died. People should probably think about that more before they post.

As an inexperienced player myself, I thought it might be a good idea to play badly in a bunch of games--just try some crazy moves to see specifically why they're bad, and different ways you can end up paying for them--as a learning tool. Too much work, though.

"makes me less gassy for some reason" is not the parting shot any of us deserve.

Is there like a compilation of the most incredible, uh, throws?
There isn't any particular highlight vid that is a must-watch, but this ace compilation is pretty good:

''I like to play gambits, bro.''

Not really. You play against the computer, put coaching mode on and just play. You can undo moves and try the bad ones as well as the good ones to see where they go. So, a lot of work, not really, a lot of time, yeah, perhaps.

Oh geeze, I just read his last post. But yeah, sounds like something sudden and unexpected. Hate to say it, but I'm always very skeptical when I read stuff online so I hope it's not some ill conceived prank.

I'd hope not. Sad if true, RIP and all. It would seem his wife made an account based on Amanda Palmer from the Dresden Dolls back in 2019 to lurk and probably spy on him. I'd say it'd be weirder if she had just made the account and picked the name/avatar.

Anyways, I'm watching the LOTR series for the first time. It's pretty cool.

Yes, Jackson did an incredible job of faithfulness to the books.

I'm screwed in that case

I agreed with almost every decision about what to cut. That had to have been so hard to do. I even think that changing Aragorn's character to be less misogynistic was a good choice.
