There is not a chance in hell I could go vegan, not even vegetarian. Mind you, that's not to say that I would never eat a vegetarian meal--I find they're pretty good as long as you add in some meat.
I'm right there with ya brotha haha.

This is true: on the odd occasion me and the missus go for pizza, I always check the vegetarian entry because sometimes the ingredients sound quite good, but if we choose it, it's with the intent of adding meat topping of some kind as well.

If I tried to go vegetarian, I'd either have to graze like a ruminant all day, or never feel satisfied by a meal. Fruits and vegetables are awesome, love them, but they don't stick to my ribs, as it were.

I'm also right there beside you too, nice and close...

A vegan bud of mine supplements his meals/snacks with plant-based protein shakes. That helps him stay satiated until his next meal, and he goes pretty hard with his exercise. Not saying to do it, but there are ways to help with that issue.

I’ll never give up cheese, so vegan is absolutely out of the question. Good to have meatless days here and there though.

That’s why I didn’t last as vegan. The plant based cheeses were disgusting. I’m told they re much better now but I’m too traumatized to try again and find out.

They are still disgusting to me. Not worth the displeasure of eating. I try vegan replacements every so often, as I do try to limit animal product consumption, but, 99 percent of them are still trash imo.

I once accidentally bought vegan Mac & Cheese. They used cashew butter as a cheese replacement... 🤮

Except the pizza example, I was just joking about adding meat to a vegetarian meal, of course. But I think a balanced diet is the best diet. Note that by balanced, I also mean not having massive hunks of meat. If we're going to have steak, we'll typically share a relatively small one, for example.

I don't see the point of going vegan and then having to supplement that with protein powder. How do you know it's not adulterated with something?

Yeah, I see your point. Seems needlessly complicated, but it is hard for many vegans who also want to get some mass on them. We all have to go a bit extra in some aspect of our life. That is his.

I suppose he doesn't really know for sure, though any vegan-labeled product I thought had to be regulated and observed to have no animal product through random testing or what have you.

I was wondering. Have any of you met a sherbro in real life?

@Loiosh came over my place last month. We had a good time. He's a great guy.

I tried to go vegetarian. I lasted one month.

Love that last sentence btw. Too damn funny. I say the exact thing to my wife.

It doesn't seem complicated so much as pointless. But that's just me.

And a quick search shows that companies provide samples of their protein powder to third party agencies to do testing, but I didn't find mention of any government agency regulating the products, unlike, say, a piece of meat. I wouldn't be surprised if I were wrong, mind you. I didn't look too hard.

Anyway, as I often say, opinions are like assholes--everybody has one. If he's healthy, who am I to say he should do differently. It's not for me, though.

Well, it isn't pointless since it works for him lol. I get ya though. I tell him he doesn't need to feel full all the time anyway. Get used to being a little hungry sometimes. It's good for ya. Now to get my son to feel the same way....

I didn't want to be Mr. Google, so I don't know what testing, if any, is actually being done. Sometimes Google be lying. I suppose if you're a hardcore vegan, you would only eat from companies with a proven track record for guaranteed vegan products. He frequents vegan sites and all that jazz, but I remain in the dark to it all.

Probably the best state when it comes to gun rights. Too bad it gets so cold.
