BTW, you never got back to me on our bet on how high 2020 U3 would hit:

Peak was 14.9% as it turned out.
Why you gotta bring up old stuff Jack? lol

Okay, Im back to posting the War Room again to talk about how much I hate politicians, how our elections are a joke and how stupid the American people are.

To keep things even more interesting I'll be posting gifs of jiggly asses, talking about sports and how we need JJ French and Sniper back.

Btw, Americans, like all modern civilizations, are kept 'stupid' with vapid, mind-numbingly boring entertainment and confusing mis/disinformation because they're more easily manipulated in that condition.

Concerning our political 'system', it seems that to be mired in the muck produced by hysteria on both 'sides', if you will.

Substantive content by either party has been replaced by a general clamor of social dissonance.

I remember when differing viewpoints were actually discussed and, perish the thought, debated by intelligent individuals without the rancor so prevalent now.

Labeling is a big deterrent to such activity and I have to say the Left is far better at labeling those who oppose their agenda.

If you can label someone effectively, you generally marginalize them and their attitude/opinion is necessarily disposed of and ignored out of hand.

When you call someone a racist, homophobe, transphobe, or any of the myriad labels affixed to opponents, you shut down thoughtful discourse of any kind.

When federal employees are threatened with losing their job and even jail time for misgendering a coworker, there is a major problem.

When reacting to this negatively earns you a hateful label, the problem is made much worse.

Suffice it to say, Tocqueville's "Great Experiment" has seemed to have gone terribly wrong along the way.

Be it a mind virus or a societal fever, a cure or at least a palliative is in much need at this time IMO.

The Right make it easy to be labeled since they seem to have no coherent identity or message. Most people in Congress are just afraid of losing their cushy, do nothing jobs after all IMO

The electoral college is an archaic exercise created in the 18th century with good intentions but it is fraught with drawbacks.
Pretty good summary here.

So many angles to look at the problem really. Just one is communication/exposure to ideas, information and opinions.
When Payne wrote Common Sense, originally titled Plain Truth, a mere 100 thousand copies made it around the 13 colonies over
the period of 3 MONTHS.
Presently, an editorial or opinion piece can be produced and circulated GLOBALLY in a matter of moments.
The impact of this cannot be overstated as it lends itself to abuse in the form of mis and disinformation being taken as
fact or at least considered viable content without oversight.

Get rid of the outdated electoral college, decide outcomes based on popular vote but also address the huge problem of voter fraud.

Have you contacted your representative and senators?

The point of that being to voice my opinion on the matter?

And in so doing, affect real change in how we're governed?

While holding our elected officials accountable in some manner?

Nope.

Well if you want the EC repealed and replaced that would be your first move. Be the change and all.

Daily Factoid:

Just read that auto thefts in Oakland, Ca. were up over 44% from last year with over 14,500 cars stolen in 2023.

That's over a 1,000 cars taken a MONTH.

And since in Alameda County, which includes Oakland, police are not allowed to pursue stolen cars (unless they are known to have been involved in other felonious activity), many of them
are just out roaming around committing robberies, etc. not caring if someone gets their license plate because the car is hot.

Amazing.
Purely socioeconomic factors

Understanding that Congress shuts down early every afternoon to peruse The War Room, I figured this was the best venue to voice my opinion.

I have no doubt many lawmakers will now be thinking about what I posted and determine that something must be done.

Is your theory that there's someone or some people sitting in a room crafting entertainment products on the theory that it will keep people more easily manipulated as opposed to just people trying to sell stuff that they think people will like?

I think TV shows are made for a smarter audience than ever before. When you were a kid, there was no TV, internet, or radio, right, but the books and magazines that most people read (when they had any leisure time at all) tended to be absolute crap. As reading has become rarer, it's been aiming for a higher audience.

I think "woke," "socialist," and "leftist" are terms that shut down discourse for some. Generally, this is really misplaced, as liberals and leftists are way more likely to engage with opposing thought than rightists. That's something even noticed by rightists themselves. For example, here's Nathan Cofnas recently:

"On the Unsupervised Learning website, Razib Khan highlights endorsements from five people: Steven Pinker (a liberal democrat), Scott Sumner (a libertarian who claims that “the press has gone easy on Trump”), Carlos D. Bustamante (the geneticist whom Elizabeth Warren charged with proving her Native American ancestry), Arnold Kling (a right-leaning libertarian), and Freddie deBoer (a Marxist). Although a substantial minority of New York Times readers are conservative (22%), if the Times had to select endorsements from its most prominent readers, they wouldn’t be five Trump voters. Despite the fact that he is promoting right-wing ideas, Khan may have more influence over the left than the right! Khan was even hired as an opinion writer for the New York Times, though he was fired after just two articles when his history of publishing in controversial outlets like Taki’s Magazine came to light."

I don't recall you ever seriously engaging with non-rightist thought here.

Babe, wake up, John Fetterman just dropped a chud talking point
