I don't agree. I don't know who to compare him to, but no, I don't believe he was honest (at least not all the time on all issues). He was extremely abusive and disrespectful to anyone who disagreed with him to boot. Suffice to say I was not a fan.

for some reason I took his abuses as just "bustin' balls", even when it was directed at me.

I think he just purposely derailed himself easily. Maybe if we are talking the first three posts he makes in a thread, he'd have a much higher ranking in my mind

That's an interesting way to put it, though I don't think I'd agree. Nicky was genuinely passionate about his beliefs, while one of the characteristics of the alt-right style is a deep insincerity about arguments (they certainly hold some beliefs, but they just say whatever to back it up, and aren't married to any particular claim--note that one troll that has a label "Trump and Frank Mir have never lied" or something).

I guess I meant more the aspect of offending just to offend and seeing it as a means of winning an argument. He didn't just do that but it was a large part of his posting style

See, I don't think he was trying to offend. I think he'd just post those kinds of silly insults out of frustration. While I think the alt-right types are just trying to get a rise. It's a subtle distinction, and I can see why you might think I'm only making it because HN was more agreeable, but that my opinion.

I feel like stories like that happened multiple times because I'm not sure I remember the black hooker story but I do remember similarly vulgar ones that everyone just accepted as true because, well, that's Nicky or ya.

If you say so. With all these differing opinions on what he actually was, it seems more like he's a quantum mechanical phenomenon rather than an actual poster. Or maybe a collective nightmare everyone had, but no one can quite remember the details of it.

Maybe the legend is more interesting than the man himself.

My problem with his posting was that he both did and got away with 10x more flaming than anyone else. Actually there's an acceptable level of flaming, but his posting was 90% hard flaming and essentially people were bullied out of threads continually. Threads became him and his fan-boys - more than the usual alliances we see in threads now.

Anyway, I understand that people liked him. Not the end of the world.

I disagree. I think generally people who disagree with me on that topic find me more offensive than people who disagree with what you post, honestly. I bet I'm ignored by many more.

I've just thought of this a bit over the last year.

Sloppy is way smarter than HN (no offense, Nicky, if you're reading this). To people like DS, everyone who isn't in their tribe is an alt or something equivalent. The intelligent, decent poster who happens to disagree with DS is an empty category.

I suspect Sloppy was a alt. The reasons are that he was a very new member and spent most of his time in the WR delivering drive-by vitriol at anything right-winged, but would not spend a lot of times in actual debates.

There are lots of people I disagree with which I do not consider to be alts. This is just you reaching at straws to insult me because I'm in your head, something which has become undeniable by the amount of times you mention me.
