Yea. It an odd thing and I do see it in politics whenever I see people irl try to talk. I usually avoid politics entirely irl because of the way people are immediately defensive or emotional about it. Most people just aren't in the right frame of mind for any good to come from it. I only will argue with my dad and it's cause I know he doesn't get angry at it. He's always been good at keeping a cool head in any room
I think a lot of it just a monkey thing. Like, I think people don't actually believe that tax cuts for the rich spur economic growth as much as they say it to indicate that they're a certain kind of person. And they see an attempt to refute it with numbers as, "you suck as a person." Most issues seem that way, and it's a major problem.
