I won conservative of the year award a few years back, I thought it was cool at the time, its much easier not to give a shit what everyone thinks though.

As addicting as this place is, its not to be taken seriously

I guess I never paid attention to the tally at the end. Always saw it as a fun thread for 15 pages and then a drunken dysfunctional family argument for the next 15.

some of the biggest fights of the year happened in these threads

I was vain enough to actually count nominations/votes, I think Pan came in second, back when he was a conservative

I hope you guys are giving me shit poster of the year award. The work I've done with lizards should win this for me alone.

I guess I still think something about it else why would I have mentioned it

at least I was being honest about it being easier not to give a shit and writing small novel responses to try and win an argument

15? Last year's nomination thread turns into a stupid debate on Frank Mir's MMA record after page 3. Courtesy of Jack V Savage.

I never bothered to read further than that, except for the notifications whenever my name is tagged.

I finds it fascinating that some adults' political stance actually change. Usually that transition only happen once, particularly when reality hit you in the face a few years after you graduate from college.

I'm a Center-Right the first day I step into the WR, and that will unlikely to change, no matter which party is in office.

I will say, you bugged the shit out of me at first however you've grown on me

I don't agree with much or maybe anything you say but you've got a great sense of humor

you say that and while my believes are just as strong as they've ever been, my party has left me

so theres a bunch of adults who's political stances have changed

I'm about on strike two with these guys, if they turn and renege on everything they've promised....again, I'm about to join the leave me the fuck alone party. Will that make me a libertarian?

I have created and meticulously indexed quite a few mega-threads in the WR these past two years, many of which resulted in some very productive discussions even beyond my expectations, and I can confirm that every single "contribution" that you have ever "contributed" in the middle of those debates were utterly and complete worthless random one-liners that consistently have absolutely nothing to do with the topic themselves.

As the useless anti-thesis of Zankou and possibly the lazier brother of 99Silva, I'm certain that even if you don't win this year, you certainly will be the front-runner for Worst Shit Poster in many years to come.

That sounds like a hell of an endorsement if I've ever heard one. I'm a shoe in!

  • Best All Around Poster: In terms of output and quality; @Jack V Savage.
  • Worst All Around Poster: There's a lot of candidates for this one, but I don't really remember the names. @dontsnitch is a very bad one I remember. He just tip toes around his abhorrent worldview (though I can see he has now publicly endorsed Thurisaz, so I guess he is more open with it now), and always derail the thread into some emotional meltdown where he pouts about "ad hominems" and "straw men". Insufferable imo.
  • Best Shit Poster: @ripskater. No contest really.
  • Best Threads: @Arkain2K. @Happiness has been doing some great ones lately as well.
  • Worst Threads: No idea. I don't pay attention to the bad posters.
  • Best Liberal Shill and Best Conservative Hack: I don't know about liberal or conservative, but the most stubborn poster who has to twist every argument into his narrow ideology award goes to @Greoric.
  • Most Racist: @Thurisaz. The guy quotes H.P. Lovecraft to support his view on race, and he is pretty much on par with Breivik in his rheroric towards the current immigration status in Europe. A very vile human being overall. I nominate him not because he is the most blatantly racist, but because he is seemingly intelligent and is much more deliberate, analytical and cynical in his racism than the usual mouth breathers here.
Most shameless liar, apparently @Thames.

Don't get too excited yet. This IS the WR, so the Worst Shit Poster might be the most fiercely-competitive category of all.

If I don't win it's probably rigged

It was a good discussion on Mir's record, and it started when someone nominated me for Best Poster but added that she disagreed with me about Mir. I just asked why and clarified my own position. Lots of HW trolls try to assert that I think he's a bum, but my actual position is that he peaked as a mid-level contender, was a really exciting fighter, and lasted a long time as a relevant guy. Possibly top 20 all-time at HW.

Also, that was Page 1 if you have your settings done correctly, and it only lasted a few posts.

It's interesting that people's political stances don't change more, as we often see huge changes in the center. Like, a couple of months ago, "conservatives" claimed to believe that budgets should always be balanced and that austerity was the way to drive growth (a claim that is equivalent to creationism or climate-science denial). But now lots of them are talking about priming the pump and how we need stimulus. A few years ago, the right was extremely religious, but most have now flipped on that. Etc.

If your own views are consistent, how you define yourself will change. Look at all the WR right-wingers trying to excommunicate Pan, even though he remains a conservative Republican, because he hasn't suddenly changed his beliefs now that a new faction has become dominant on the right. I've also been getting leftists trying to claim I'm not *really* one of them because I don't agree with the growing influence of a particular segment of the left movement.

This marks my third year in the WR, and it shall be the first time the adults hold a democratic vote for the nominations, after the tantrum-prone children finished throwing their food around the room.
Settle down and pick your burrito up off the floor, Sally. This shit has never been formal.

BTW question for the group:

In the 2015 thread, I mentioned an appreciation for a poster I referred to as "VNP." I have no idea who that is now. Anyone know?

Some might argue that the parties changed while they stayed the same...
