There's a pension that the county puts money into for us and we can also elect to take some out and put it in and choose a plan for how it's invested. I didn't do that yet as I'd rather have the take home money right now to pay off some debt but probably during the next open enrollment that is in November of 2020 or the one in like June of 2021 I will start taking money out of my check for it.

I speak w/ Marines every day who don't really understand what that entails, as the new DoD Blended Retirement system has a match to the TSP (it did not when i was in, but the Pension started at 50% of base pay, now it's 40 plus a match up to 5%).

The way i see it, if you have a match, go to that limit at least.....it's a buffer against loss in a bad year, and a better starting point to base gains off in a good year. You put in say 100 for the year (i mean 5% is 100), and they match it. Lets say it's an (untypical) 20% loss in the stock market for the year....you're still at 160 well above what you invested. Let's say it's 20% gain (a bit unlikely, but still)…..your 100 is now 240.

Haha I'm halfway there. Like, I let her select some of the things since she's obviously gonna be more into that, but I act as the "approver" so to say. So like, if she's gonna buy a new kitchen table, or some table decorations or whatever, and she's at some store, she'll send me pics of how it looks and if I agree it's a go she'll buy it. But if I'm like nah that looks too feminine or to bright or whatever she'll grab something else. Some of her taste can be "too girly" and I'm not trying to have the guys come over to watch football and see "pink floral wallpaper" haha.

None of that woman just buy things with my credit card and I like her spending my money on couples massages and she's buying starbucks for two that I'm not a part of like my boy @zebby23 said a month ago. (I couldn't resist lil Zeb, I just couldn't resist it)

My last job matched everything so I took out the max 15%.

This one I think stops at 8%? But you also have optional retirement systems you can get into that I did opt into which is done in a dollar amount not a percentage of the check.

You might have a point there actually. In some of those scenes (gaming scene, comic scene, etc) there are some incredibly hot women with, less than stellar looking men. Those women tend to be geeks themselves, so those guys are what they find in their circles. It's one of the only places you see it in bulk to that magnitude.
