Television WANDAVISION Discussion (Dragonlord's Review)

If you have seen the whole season of WANDAVISION, how would you rate it?

Scarlet Witch is a total goof, and Vision outed himself as a bitch in Infinity War. Making it about anyone else would have been better, except maybe Black Panther - he's as vanilla as they get.

Witch held off Thanos by herself while destroying an Infinity Stone.

Vision sacrificed himself to save half the universe.

Maybe this will be a prequel and show us how their relationship developed between Civil War and Infinity War.

I'll have to think on the villain, but I hope it's this. Have them check in with Cap and Stark like they're supposed to for the fan service, too.

The obvious choice would be to bring Ultron back somehow.

Wow...I can't believe that never occurred to me.

Ultron is inside the mind gem, correct?

Officially, Vision killed Ultron at the end of AoU. But they've brought humans back from the dead; it wouldn't be that difficult to think of a way to, ahem, "reboot" an AI.

Scarlet Witch TV Series Official Title Confirmed to Be VISION AND THE SCARLET WITCH

A new report suggests that Marvel Studios' upcoming TV series, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, will be called Vision and the Scarlet Witch. The short, six-to-eight-episode series is being created exclusively for Disney's upcoming streaming service, Disney Plus, which will launch in 2019.

In September, it was reported that Marvel Studios was working on a range of movie-budget limited series that would premiere on Disney Plus. One of the most interesting ideas was of a series starring Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch; only a few days later, there were further reports that the series may co-star Paul Bettany's Vision as well. The relationship between the two is a core part of Avengers lore in the comics, and was faithfully reproduced in Avengers: Infinity War, so this seemed to make sense.

According to the latest report from Deadline, Vision does indeed now have co-star billing. In fact, they report that the series will be called Vision and the Scarlet Witch. It's truly exciting to see secondary characters get top billing in some of these short TV shows. The romance between the two has been a tumultuous one in the comics, in large part because of Vision's struggle with emotion and Scarlet Witch's mental instability. It will be fascinating to see how Marvel Studios choose to adapt that relationship for their TV series.

Marvel fans will recognize that title as an allusion to two important arcs. In 1982, Bill Mantlo penned a four-issue miniseries called Vision and the Scarlet Witch, spinning a plot out of their recent marriage. He described them as "the strangest wedded couple in the world," and indeed his plot treated them as such. Mantlo's story saw the newly-weds confront everything from Samhain, the spirit of All Hallows Eve, to Nuklo, a radioactive man with the mind of a child. Significantly, this even ended with Wanda discovering that she was the daughter of Magneto, the Master of Magnetism. Three-years later, Marvel launched a second limited series entitled Vision and the Scarlet Witch. This saw the couple leave the Avengers after Vision's mind had been corrupted by his creator, Ultron; when the United States Government refused to trust him, Scarlet Witch broke him out of Project PEGASUS and the two decided to blaze their own trail as independent vigilantes.

The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently a closely guarded secret. Next year's Avengers 4 is the end of the first three phases of the MCU, and it appears to be the beginning of something subtly different. It's distinctly possible that the Vision and the Scarlet Witch series will tap into these classic stories - and explore the nature and powers of two remarkable heroes.

Sure I'll watch it.

Will binge watch after they're all released if the cliffs I read keep my interest.

Could be good. I'm not a fan of Olsen as Wanda.
I was not impressed when they announced her as SW but have been pleased since.

Who would you prefer for the role?

How was VIsion a bitch in IW?

And lol at BP being "vanilla".

Not sure this show would be up my alley. I like both actors but I don't find either character terribly compelling, at least as written.

I'm sure it'll have the production values to make me reconsider though.

I hate Scarlet Witch. Her acting bothers me and her powers are just too silly and unbelievable in what was previously a somewhat grounded MCU.

Movies like Dark Knight and Iron Man saved comic book movies from over the top goofiness and camp and unfortunately, we are back to where we used to be.

I don't get it? How are here powers unbelievable compared to Dr. Strange or Thor or Loki?

Thor is a literal God that is from another Realm. It's silly but at least in the first Thor movie, they took away his powers and made him a fish out of water. Before it came out, I was wondering how in the world they were gonna pull it off when everything up to that point was fairly grounded.

It's been silly for awhile now though. I'd say starting with the first Avengers, they've been getting more and more over the top to the point where you have Hulk and Iron Man destroying entire cities and getting up and walk away without a scratch. It's just too much for me. I still enjoy them but I have a hard time turning my brain off for them or getting emotionally invested.

To be honest, I don't want a "grounded" MCU. Scarlet Witch is one of the most powerful beings in the universe. They aren't as clear about it in the films, but she's unbelievable in the comics. She has a bad day and warps the universe out of whack.

And every scene in Dark Knight without ledger was drowning in mediocrity.

Centerpiece to one of my top five favorite scenes from any super hero movie.

That scene brought teh Feels.

Also showcases just how powerful Wanda is. She holds back Thanos, who has four Infinity Stones by then, with one hand while destroying the Mind Stone and killing Vision with the other. Girl is a legit heavyweight.
