Economy Volkswagen gets Canceled

I think EU has mostly a premium car market in America. I don't really care too much about people buying premium cars made in a foreign market getting a 10% tariff hit. I'd care more about what the low end models cost, which are typically made in Asia and USA. In fact I'd prefer it if BMW and Mercedes Benz owners paid more, given how terrible their drivers always end up being.

I'm still pissed that I can't buy a Toyota Hilux in Canada.
How the hell am I going to survive the zombie apocalypse?

What seriously? That's insane I don't understand why it'd be a great car for Canadian wilderness lifestyle. Unless it's a climate/temperature issue with their TD? You guys are alot like Australia in terms of wilderness except cold and wet instead of hot and dry.

You're missing out bro. Although I believe you have the v8 tundra available which we wanted but they run a twin turbo v6 here now.

Opel is very popular and its GM owned, the fact however is that American cars are just not made with European market consideration.

I mean you even pointed the F150 which has no European equivalent because in Europe trucks are for working not glorified SUVs

Most people in Europe dont want to drive a big truck.
The most sold cars in Europe are almost always smaller gas efficient cars. There is no real market for a big truck.
Top 3 last year seems to have been Dacia Sandro, Renault Clio and WV Golf.

America makes some excellent cars. C8 Corvette for 60k? What a steal.
spoken like someone who's never owned a corvette or even met anyone with a corvette. they are piles of shit.

VAT is sales tax, its also paid by domestic producers

By that logic California is tariffing the rest of America with its State-wide sales tax.
Only is they didn’t tax their own goods

Is gas cheap in Australia?

According to my local Toyota dealer, the Hilux doesn't meet Canadian safety standards which is why we can't have them. That's the official reason. Off the record, he said the safety thing was only part of it, the other part is corporate HQ believes it would undercut sales on their other trucks and hurt overall profits.

VAT is just a different name for sales tax they apply to local products not only imports
true but I don’t think vat is what they meant anyway or they misunderstood

You'll have to elaborate. Why do you feel that way?
they break constantly. their chassis as well as their body work are basically made of paper mache. it's the only way they can hit that price point. i will say, some more expensive "supercars" like lamborghinis and maseratis are also piles of shit, for the record.

Regular unleaded is 1.75. so 1.08usd
Diesel is 1.79 so 1.10usd
Premium unleaded 98 is 2.15 so 1.32usd

Dunno if that's cheap @Rod1
