How much of a chance would you give Volk? He's typically done well against big punchers (other than getting caught late by Lewis) and just beat the guy some were calling the Russian Ngannou, but how about the real deal?

Francis doesn't swing like a power puncher and is way faster

Francis by KO or TKO 9 times outta 10

I see Volkov finishing not just decisioning him in the other 1 fight

Francis via TD+GnP. It would probably look like Minakov ("Francis") vs Volkov.

Frank flatlines him :)

Volkov has more technical skill on the feet but I don't think he has the power to back Francis up. Volk got his black belt earlier this year. He doesn't show much of it but I don't think he will get mauled on the ground. Volkov swept Werdum in order to stand back up in their fight. I don't know if Volkov can survive 2 rounds without getting hit by Francis. Francis does lose power as the rounds progress.

I see it going the same way Overeem vs Struve went. With Ngannou bullying him to the ground and TKOing him against the cage.

I feel that Volkov has improved a lot since he lost to aspinall.

Other than gane, he's the best pure striker at HW I could see him keeping distance and winning a UD against francis

The memory of Aspinall subbing him makes me doubt the heft of his black belt. I know it's been 2 years, but damn that subbed seemed so easily obtained once it hit the mat.

Aspinall is another black belt. He gooned Volkov on the ground with a straight armlock. You don't really see that submission anymore along with the keylock. Black belt doesn't mean you are invincible. It just means you know how to do some things. I watched the fight the other day. Volkov isn't completely lost on the ground. He got taken down then he regained half guard then worked his way to his feet. Most heavies can't even do simple stuff Volkov used in the fight like using a knee shield.

Ngannou has more fight IQ than Pavlovich though.
Also, I think Ngannou would mix in some take downs to create more uncertainty. Volkov is OK on the ground, but his TDD is not great and the transitions would be dangerous for him.
