Yeah over Dan Ige after getting dominated by Ortega. Yair beat KZ and his performance against Max was more impressive than anything KZ has ever done. It's a loss yes but a very close fight with Max Holloway. Since losing to Conor nobody has given Max a competitive fight at 145 besides Volkanovski until the Yair fight.

There are some universal truths to MMA/combat sports, and one of them is that to get the title shot/climb the ladder, you need to win. A loss, against whomever, detracts from your momentum, while a win spurs it. Volks in on a HUGE winning/defending spree, while Yair lost his most recent fight. KZ is a veteran of the sport, has put in his dues, and regardless of all that, he's a high-ranked opponent who won his last fight. Also, the guy he last lost to . . .got spanked by Volks, so it's not like he's jumping Ortega, who was deserving of his shots.
