Yeah, what the fuck is going on here? And how does this lock up Alex as the next challenger at LW? If Dariush wins his fight he has earned his TS. And beating Dariush should give Gamrot the next LW TS.

This is why I’m against any fighter trying to get a second belt. If you want to fight for a belt in a different weight class, you should vacate the title, and move up. Any time somebody tries for a second belt the division they are the champ in gets unnecessarily held up for at least one fight Let’s call it 6 months, and that’s assuming no injuries. A serious injury would then mean an interim title.

I’ve been against this 2 belt shit from the start. No matter how thin FW is. If they are going to keep the division the title should be defended at least once a year. But, Amanda didn’t even defend at BW for 2 years.

Either get rid of FW, or have at least one defence in BW, and FW every 9 months. So 4.5 months in both divisions. But the UFC will probably shitcan FW when Amanda retires, which is probably going to be sooner than later. I’d like to see Norma get a TS at FW first. Not that I expect her to win. I’d like to see the fight, though.

I also see no reason whatsoever why you couldn’t have a modified tag team event. Tagging in would be kind of ridiculous, but why couldn’t you have a fight between the Diaz Brothers and Conor/Masvidal in which round 1 was Nate vs Conor, round 2 was Nick vs Jorge, round 3 was Nick vs Conor, round 4 was Nate vs Jorge, and round five both teams could choose? I fail to see why that’s less safe than a regular five rounder.

Because there are 3-4 actual lightweights more deserving of a title shot in the LW division than Volk.

But if Volk beats Gamrot, it would legitimize Volk at LW enough that he could jump the line.

Really? Name 4. Winner of Gamrot Dariush would be 1. If Gamrot wins don't think it's remotely clear cut but for argument's sake let's count the winner as 1. Who else? Fiviez? Damir? Turner? Surely your not talking about Chandler, Gaethje or Poirier. If Dariush in particular doesn't win I think there's a very good chance Volk can jump the line, hell even if he wins he still might get it.

I feel like Alex would annihilate Conor. He possesses everything that’s Conor’s weakness: wrestling, leg kicks, fight IQ, 5 round cardio, heart. Conor only has height on him.

It’s not completely crazy. But Volk is an elite pound for pound fighter, if he’s gonna hoof it to the fucking UAE I get why the title backup would be the bait.

I’m not sure what Volk would have for Islam. Islam is a fucking animal, he ragdolls strong lightweights.

Volk vs Charles, Volk vs Conor, Volk vs Chandler, etc. i find very interesting. I would also be interested to see if they could come up with a gameplan to outstrike naturally larger strikers like Gaethje, DP, etc.

Volk will be short at LW but he’ll be a hammer as well.

I feel like Volk starches Oliveira without much issue.

Him vs Islam would be more interesting because of the size difference and the grappling.

Alex is p4p number 1 and it's not close.

My favorite scenario is if Alex got called in vs Islam and beat the brakes off him.

then we have Alex with two belts, Charles still being the true champ, and the world raving about how Islam got beat by a 145er.
