He just uploaded this. He confirmed that the UFC are on board with it. He also says that this lines him up as the next guy to fight for the LW title even if nobody pulls out.

Beneil vs Volk should fight at 8pm (for replacement spot) to then fight the main event guy who didn't pull out at midnight. That's the only rational way to proceed. If no one in the main event pulls out between 8pm to midnight Beneil/Volk winner should storm the Charles/Islam winner's Rogan interview and attack him for ducking them.

These things happen in MMA.

Yep and there's a UFC in Australia Feb 2023, I'm sure that's the main event target at this point. My only question would be that if Makhachev wins they may want to keep him fighting in Abu Dhabi, we'll see I guess.
 
Hope alex fills in somehow, I'd like to see charles vs volk.

also seems weird when you consider Gamrot and Dariush are already on the card.

It gives him tons of press; doesn't risk his legacy or belt at 145; and potentially makes him mega famous doublechamp.

It's not weird when you consider the UFC has almost zero desire to make Gamrot a champ and would rather keep its popular assets in the spotlight.

but gamrot is awesome why wouldn't you want him as champ?
 
Best Fight Odds shows 1 future fight line each for Charles and Islam. Those fights are Ollie/Volk and Islam/Gaethje.

Do Bronx Vs Alex the Great in Rio confirmed.
 
Beneil has said multiple times for the last month that he is the official backup for the title fight and will make championship weight. So either UFC is doing something shady (definite possibility) or Volk is being lied to. Note he said "UFC is on board" ... that sounds less than official to me. plus with a card coming up in Australia, why would they do Volk's big for a second belt on short notice in Abu Dhabi?

Very weird.
