Max is like that bouncer that takes his job so seriously that he won't even let the hot girls in if they are not on the list.

Now that the UFC and WWE are under the same umbrella, Volk and Max should form a tag team and challenge champions in different weight classes
 
I mean, you have to feel at least a bit sorry for Max. The guy is elite, has so many wars behind him and would have been a long reigning champion in any other time except when you have a once in a generation freak talent such as Volk around. Moving up in division proved hard for both of them, I don’t see how that is a very viable option for Max if he wants to hold the belt again.

His best option is to stay at 145 for now. Volk might move up to 155 permanently if he beats Yair. I have no doubt Max gets the belt again if Volk is not around.

They offered him the title shot vs Islam allegedly in October but Volk said he didn't want to sit out that long, that he'd rather fight Yair in July and then go from there. So who knows, but it doesn't seem like there's ever been permanent plans to move up.

My thoughts exactly. However, I don’t see Volk beating Islam, so not sure what going to LW offers him. If he does somehow win, the narrative changes, obviously.

When did he say that?

I personally prefer Volk vs the winner of Islam vs Dariush. Hopefully he beats Oliveira and gets that title shot man. Feel so bad for Dariush.

Dont see the point of him giving up his belt at 145 tbh. He defended his belt 2 times last year and as long as he stays active i am fine seeing him at both 145 and 155.

The first fight was very close and you can say Volk arguably beat him. I have no doubt Volk makes the adjustments and gets it done. The only thing that worries me is his age. Hope he's still in his peak form but he doesn't have time.

And Max really never properly moved up. He needs to add some muscle and gain weight properly. I can see him being a problem in there.

Money-wise I get him wanting to hold on to it. But competition-wise I’d rather see how he goes against the rest of the top 155ers.

And because he’s already been granted one shot at Islam. For me, getting a second crack at the title above your division should come with some kind of trade off.

I am interested to see if 36 Hour Rehydration Islam looks any different against Volk.

I think he should stay at 145 stacking up defenses, and just publicly make it sound like he wants to fight Islam again.

But that’s why he’s one of the best fighters in the world, and I’m just a schlub on an internet forum.
 
That would be considerate of Max.

But yeah Volk/Max haven't lost at 145 since 2013. It's the MM/Joe B effect where you essentially have 2 psuedo champs beating everyone else. Division gets cleaned out quickly like that. FW was empty to begin with and they lost Zabit.

It'd have been best for the sport perhaps if Volk stayed at 155. There's really nothing for Volk at 145. I don't like champs moving up but it's never really been more warranted. Divisions empty as a nun.

Doesn't. This narrative is so dumb lol. If you're so dehydrated then don't cut massive amount of weight.

30 hour rehydration = early prelim fighters. Do they look any different? No.
 
Max is a great fighter. His only curse is being born in the same era as Volk.
