I think AJ is either lying or knows more than what he stated. Look at his body language. Look at how Ariel doesn't believe him for a second, and then AJ suddenly changes his story to having "wisdom teeth removed".
He's in a terrible spot, and so is the entire UFC Light Heavyweight picture.
This whole interim-debacle, with Jones being stripped etc. has just messed up the whole balance at 205lbs.
Ovince challenges Jones, this happens end of April. God knows what will happen in terms of medical suspensions, but you'd think the winner will not fight Daniel until later in the year e.g. August, September, possibly later if they want to squeeze it onto a card in a specific location.
I predict Jon will win this weekend, so it will be himself vs Cormier later in the year. Then they need to fight, and god knows the medical lay-off after that one. So we are probably talking 2017 before Anthony Johnson gets a shot.
I'm not watching Johnson's pockets, but I'm sure he cannot afford to take a year off and wait for Jones/DC. So he inevitably will have to fight someone else, and he's smashed all top guys other than Glover.
If he does fight Glover, and he happens to lose - we then have Glover back in the title picture, which isn't "bad" but it steals away the greatness of having that Jones vs Johnson fight and a possible Johnson vs DC rematch.
The UFC dragged their feet for way too long in matching the top 6 guys up against each other, and now they're paying the price because all the "dream matchups" are dwindling.
Gustafsson vs Glover has been cancelled many times.
Gustafsson vs Jones seems to be getting further away.
Rashad fighting any of these top guys seems to be dwindling away.
Get Jones the belt back and let's go.
agree with everything, Jones/Rumble sells good and DC/Teixeira too, but not Jones/Teixeira 2 or DC/Rumble 2 or even crazy scenario and OSP/Teixeira 2, but in that case OSP/Rumble is interestingHe's in a terrible spot, and so is the entire UFC Light Heavyweight picture.
