Here's a great video clip of Brian Siders returning to the USAPL and squatting 992lbs at their nationals. For what it's worth, the USAPL at least does a halfway decent job with drug testing (I personally don't care about drug testing but I give them credit for at least testing most of the record breakers and performing some out-of-contest random tests) and they limit their powerlifting gear to single ply polyester fabric (Brian's a mid-800lb squatter without a suit or knee wraps which is stupendous.) Siders has ridiculous explosive power!

Silders is a beast. He was the only lifter that made the arnold lineup this year worth while.

thats awesome, i wonder why he didnt go for an even 1000 with how easy that was, not to mention how narrow that suited lift was even for a walkout instead of a monolift

*hates to say it* That 992 shouldn't have passed */hater* Siders is a freak. Probably the strongest powerlifter of our times. He was holding back some because this was only to qualify for the World IPF championship, and he's head and shoulders above everyone else so he just doesn't need to risk bombing. He did 1003 in December, but missed it because the bar whipped and he had to take a stutter step with his left foot:

If you ever want a really good laugh at how much you suck at life, his training log is hilarious. He trains 6 days a week for 2-3 hours a session.

Was it because of the depth?

I can't believe that he wasn't given that 1003 because of that little bobble, because it didn't look hard for him, he pushed it up without too much trouble, poor bloke.

Does the USAPL use the IPF rules?

Yeah, it looked a little shallow to me. Hard to tell from that angle. It was probably a 50/50 call, but when you are going to be bringing home 12 points for America at IPF world's you give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, USAPL is America's IPF affiliate.

About 5'3. He like a mini-Enright, built perfectly to squat.

First, stop calling them deep knee bends; it's not 1932.

Second, these are full squats for the federation they choose to lift in, and if three judges who were present at the meets call them good, I don't believe it's your place to question them. Parallel is considered 'full squat' for them, and you can't really argue that.

You can't tell shit about the depth from that angle. More than one person who was in the audience said it was plenty deep.

It appears that Siders received a gift on the bench press. He's going to have to figure out how to keep his head down for IPF worlds.

Does the USAPL allow monolifts? A good thing to note is that those guys are also *walking out* with the weight, which is bad ass.

    Nice vids :icon_chee
