Media Vicente Luque missed weight as a backup fighter

When you get to the point of the fighters are getting on scales. How much do you really want to push yourself to make that weight if its a hard cut and all but seems like a done deal that you won't be fighting.
 
That's disappointing to hear. I know it must be tough to make a cut as a backup who PROBABLY won't fight, but when you make an agreement you have to fulfill. Unprofessional.

Asking random contenders to make weight on short notice because the UFC wants to put on a title fight even under suboptimal circumstances is the issue here, not Luque, who's never missed weight with a full camp.

I think. "backup fighters" get paid (they should) some if they dont fight, but i guess making weight was an absolute requirement, Luque choose the worst card to miss weight.

Makes sense, but do we know how short notice it was? i would understand if someone pulls 10days before the fight then he gets the call, but here no one has pulled and he was brought as a backup anyway, so who knows for how long he has been in camp for this card.

Another fighter who can't even make WW but desperately wants to fight a certain mediocre lightweight. It's a trend recently.
 
he probably didn't take it seriously. i wouldn't.

the chance either of these guys pull out or miss weight is extremely small. its not like we got a costa or yair fight going on here.
 
It will never happen, but would be amazing if the UFC just did same day weigh ins…

I like Luque but this is a bad look. Make him fight Khamzat now!!!
 
How does this work? I assume Kamaru and Cringe had a clause in their contracts saying they were fighting Luque if their opponent was out... do they have to agree to an eventual non title fight main now? Does it not even get discussed until someone is out?

Dude has 16 UFC fights and never missed weight. Obviously something is up.
 
I wonder if he just quit cutting after Usman and Covington made weight.

This. It's not like he's had a history of missing weight. He's an amazing fighter that deserves the benefit of the doubt.
