I dont know Paulie Walnuts isnt so meek himself. He took care of a russian paratrooper. Ralph Cifaretto is just as if not more of an arse than even Vic Mackey himself. Moltisanti has already killed a cop. Also lets not forget the guy with throat cancer from the Rocky Movies. That struggle he had with the younger guy was a rough one and he came out on top.

The Sopranos crew had some tough nuts. They guys are old school, and went through some hard knocks to get to where they are. They did not have the benefit of a police academy coddling them, and showing them some techniques. The mobsters had to learn everything by trial and error, and in that, only the strongest survived.

Heck, with Vic Mackey's crew, any kid from the suburbs who watched too many cop dramas, can get their daddy's to use their connections to get their kid into police academy. Once prodigal son graduates he can join Vic Mackey's crew. All you have to do is suck up to people as is with all other kinds of public office.

To join the mob you have to prove yourself because everyone is looking to supplant you any time.

Dont underestimate old man strength. And the aprile crime family have plenty of younger guys too. They just did not show case them as much. The strike team has it easy. They are cops/ civil servants. The gangbangers dont want to kill cops, plus they can use legal means to get away, so why bother bringing heat on yourselves.
