Dude you're crazy! The Shield was VERY realistic imo. All the shit they got into was believable, and the ways they got out of those situations were believable as well. Sopranos was realistic too, but not as much as the Shield.

Just watched a few clips of The Shield on youtube. Forgot how badass that show was. Especially for something that was on basic cable.

Going to have to find season one I have around here somewhere and start it from the beginning again.

For real. Vic definitely ended up being the bad guy. I like that. It really wasn't clear throughout the series if you should root for him or not. But I always did....right up until the end. In the end it was pretty clear, he was NOT the good guy, and he was going to fuck up the lives of everyone around him.

Very smart series imo.

From the very beginning, Vic was NOT the good guy. Very first episode, he murders a cop in cold blood after orchestrating every angle. Vic Mackey was a compelling piece of shit but a piece of shit nonetheless. Ronnie was alright. Lem was borderline. Shane was a lost cause.

He also takes down Tony. Furio has a shot at taking out a member of the strike team. Nobody else makes it back to Jersey.

McNulty and Freemon vs Tony would make much more sense... In which case, McNulty and Freemon would nail him fairly quickly.

As far as Tony vs Vic... Vic is the much more outlandish character and would most likely win. However, if you wanted to go outlandish characters fighting each other...
