My Brother's Keeper really encapsulates Obama's views on race and class. Barry doesn't believe there is any need for a serious structural critique of market capitalism or that there is anything wrong with massive wealth and income inequality.

He simply believes there should be mechanisms in place to make sure that the exceptionally high performing poor receive a helping hand out of the ghetto. But the ghetto and the vast majority of its inhabitants will and must remain. So everyone can see who the "winners" and "losers" are. To the average joe Obama can only say, "Sorry for ya, brother. You didn't make the Ivy League cut."

But do you agree with Obama's advice? Do not buy giant gold chains and air jordans if you're poor. Do not try to hustle. Even if you don't make the Ivy League cut selling drugs is a terrible idea to get out of the ghetto.

While you're acting stupid, this brings up a good point. All this idolisation of trash is happening simply because it's being pushed by people who make A LOT of money on it. What is often missed in this discussion is not that fake "ghetto culture" is a problem in the African American community (it is, but it inflicts other communities as well), it's simply that it's entirely designed by some fatcat millionaires who's putting all this shit out and making billions in the industry. It's all made up and these "performers" are puppets. They don't write their own songs, they don't use their own names, they don't dress themselves, they don't make the music. Even their life story is made up, as shown in the OP. It's like the story about the emperor's new clothes.

Ugly side of capitalism and consumerism is what is driving this horsehit, along with a stupid and poverty riddled uneducated population. A perfect combination that a lot of people, who's making bank on it, want to keep as status quo.
