Opinion Very weird article about Obama

Too bad Obama didn't have the balls to say this stuff during his presidency.

Initially he tried. The right wing media was painting him as someone trying to be messiah while the left wing felt he was being to reserved. He was in a no win situation.

I disagree with the "must remain" part but the rest is probably true.

Without a structural remedy for inequality the ghettos and trailer parks "must remain" by the definition of market distribution.

I refer to the 21 Savage guy who was posted in this thread, because that it the segment I am talking about. Yes, there might be a few guys out there in the mainstream that still write their own music, but they are few and far between.
21 Savage doesn't have a ghost writer lol. Most rappers write their own shit, it's not a "few guys" there might be a "few" that don't.

Rap music is just a symptom. Black culture created hip hop music, not the other way around.

And what I think many people don't understand, is that it was a result, of a doctrine invented in the civil Rights movement of resistance through self-destruction. Basically the idea of no peace until justice. Become an outlaw in culture and law, to resist.

The resistance for justice doctrine was forgotten, and the self-destructive culture took on a life of it's own, and was celebrated on it's own as being black culture by itself.

You guys sound like a bunch of old curmudgeon progressive klansman giving kudos to a "darky" you might consider letting in your house if he "keeps it up"...baby steps.

But do you agree with Obama's advice? Do not buy giant gold chains and air jordans if you're poor. Do not try to hustle. Even if you don't make the Ivy League cut selling drugs is a terrible idea to get out of the ghetto.

As a law abiding citizen who does not live in urban squalor of course I am opposed to criminal activity. As it is in MY best interests. Whether or not "hustling" is in the best, material interests of those trying to survive and thrive in that environment is a different question entirely.

Obama is just Bill Cosby 2.0. "Pull up your pants and do your homework!"

Maybe even slightly worse. As Barry is essentially a successful white guy giving advice to black people under the cover of his skin tone. Though the media has conditioned us to believe otherwise, Obama can just as honestly be called a "white man" as he can a "black man".

didn't he also say many rapper are on the down low

I love how they ^ are turning on Obama now that Obama is no longer pandering but criticizing.

I wouldn't call these guys rappers, but that's a side point.

21 Savage in 2015:
"In one of his few interviews, a journalist asked 21 Savage about his history in the streets. He opens up about an incident that happened back in middle school, where a kid was talking slick and led him to bring a gun the next day. He reflects on the altercation with no remorse, even though the action got him expelled from every school in DeKalb County."

in 2019:
"Hip hop is recovering from a drive-by assault on its legitimacy. A genre uniquely obsessed with its “street” credentials has been plunged into a debate about authenticity and artifice after it emerged bad boy Atlanta rapper 21 Savage is actually British and moved to the United States as an adolescent.

“His whole public persona is false," a spokesman for the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) bureau told CNN after officers swooped on the 26 year-old, real name Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph.

Guy is a fraud.

If you think these guys don't get tracks produced, "lyrics" (if you can call it that) written, themes laid out and propped up as they start selling a lot of records I have a bridge to sell you. People are making millions and millions off of them. The entire industry is a fraud. I'm not just talking about the new gen "rappers", I'm talking about all of the stars across genres. Even the "real" ones has countless people pulling the strings, working their social media, creating their image. And they don't give a shit what horseshit they feed the kids because it sells and makes money. It's pathetic.

That culture existed in other countries way before the civil rights era. Che Guevarra has some interesting quotes about it.

Only Fox News zombies think Obama ever pandered to poor American blacks. Educated, legitimate black leftists like Cornel West have always called out Obama for the class and race traitor that he was as president.

You've offered nothing but your opinion that 21 Savage and most hip hop artists don't write their own lyrics. 21 Savage was in the US since he was like 7, where he was born doesn't change where he grew up at or what occurred while he was in the US.

1st Link, they had similar lyrics, not the same lyrics.
2nd link, Joey Badass co-wrote with Post Malone, not 21 Savage's part.

the ones focusing on the negative aspects of hip hop are ignorant of the artists that produce music with positive messages. Shitting on the entire genre because of its worst aspects is pretty dumb

Race traitor?

{<huh}

He's mixed. Raised by a white woman.

Sorry bub, he pandered and I know we'll never agree but it is what it is.
