I'm a born and bred Vancouver Islander and I try to avoid it at all costs.

Fun to visit for a concert or sporting event.

I'm a homebody though so my opinion is skewed. Used to love visiting when I was younger.

One of the most beautiful cities in the world. It's an absolute gem. Great city a lot of fun things to do. And good people overall. It's a very diverse city. Good food, one of the best cities in the world imo.

Unfortunately, I only have an outsider's perspective as of now. It's definitely one of those Canadian cities that I want to visit, along with Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City and Ottawa. Definitely has a unique look and vibe and very scenic.

On the more negative side, it seems like a smaller, much more expensive version of Seattle with worse weather. Most movies and shows set in Seattle are actually shot in Vancouver, and it helps play into the stereotypes we have of Seattle since Vancouver is a colder, cloudier, wetter climate.

Seattle also has more of a cool factor because of all the iconic bands that came from there, most notably the 90s grunge bands, but also some of the 70s and 80s bands like Heart and Queensryche. That said, I'd love to visit Vancouver sometime and see for myself...
